Slowest moving cell I can recall here in Mitcham. I can only guess at 10mm at least and still hosing down. Certainly not what I expected..

"Fun" drive down the Eastern under that cell. Car pounded with hail & torrential rain had to pull over at one point! 😯

missed here unfortunately (or fortunately!?) some light rain but would have been good to get more. Some nice puffy cloud though!

are more likely to form overnight or is it relying on the sun to create convection?

Wow, hard to belive it missed you but got here. Small almost stationary cell exploded over us. Torrential for about 10 minutes with pea size hail. Very welcome 8mm in the gauge. Gauge about 1km north of here got 20mm, while gauges 2km south got zilch :( Gauge just near Mt Dandenong showing 30mm. Gauge just north of Ringwood showing 70mm :o Crazy falls, but very local.

Still looks very convective out there, so could be more yet.

Got zero - died on the doorstep. Just heard a drought stressed tree come crashing down nearby - horrid sound.

Far from the action today, but good to see that it can still rain in Melbourne.

According to rainfall totals on Melbourne Water, Burwood, Mont Albert, Nunawading and Mitcham areas have done best. Though totals are adding up further east, with Mooroolbark getting 20+

I would have loved to get the 70mm 8-)

Ended up with 9mm. Very happy with that because i wasn't expecting any at all.
That is the most we have had in one go all year.

Once again....absolutely NOTHING here in the pathetic boredom zone. :x

Sprinkler all set for yet another morning of watering. So over it!

Know that sound heard it 5 weeks ago, took out the power NBN and landed on my car, the day was settlement day to move house. Won’t ever forget it that’s for sure.
Zip in FTG. Well that close to zip when you read 70mm close by - although happy due to unfinished roof works.

Looked at the radar at 5:30am and thought ho-hum. At 6:30am getting booming rubbles.

Would be nice to get a follow-up storm :D (though looks a bit narrow and faster moving).

Front for later tomorrow looks a bit moisture starved. Thinking northeast and northern slopes will do ok, then the coastal strip. Between those will be pretty sparse. Should see 5-15mm here, which will be welcome but not the autumn break we desperately need :?

It looks like the Melbourne radar has gone down.

So nice to hear that sound of rain
Highest daily amount so far this year is 3.6 mm ytd 18mm so desperately needed
The largest trees in Highett reserve are not being very well cared for and I don’t think will recover
Big limbs are touching ground and falling off very dangerous to walk under

Apparently the driest start to a year in Melbourne since 1965. I haven’t double checked but sounds about right. Also about the hottest start so stress on trees must be intense.

We’ve done much better here but still a shocker. Our YTD is about 100mm, while the average to this point is about 200mm. Just 5km west of here the total YTD is about 60mm so we’ve got really lucky with three events which peaked more or less near us (20mm from the Feb storm, 20mm from drizzle couple of weeks back and 10mm last 24 hours).

Looks like another 1-3mm locally from that band. I wasn’t really expecting anything much today so a bonus :D

Looking at today in detail, quite a day of contrasts. Early storms central and east with an elevated rainband (with most evaporating before it hits the ground). Behind this temperatures spike. Could well get close to the mid 30s west of Melbourne and in the northwest. This warmth doesn’t quite dive into the east, so milder pur here. Gusty winds and drier air in a narrow band which gets to about Avalon.

Gusty swly change late which looks drizzly for east central. The unknown is moisture and cloud which could temper things, and add a bit too the totals.

Camping for the last week, Big River, huge thunderstorm and heavy rain last night. Many close CG's purple flashes and thunder rolling down the valley. Arrived home to find the back garden piled up against our back door and mud everywhere. Fun times. 22mm according to the AWS at 97mm\h
