What is even more exciting is this finally appears to be a change in the weather patterns. There looks like a cut off system next weekend and a series of fronts after that. The land can finally start to recover with consecutive rainfall events to build the soil moisture profile back to norms.

Yes looks like a few good signs in the models again for next weekend - hopefully these patterns materialise as the week progresses. It has been quite some time since we had more than one rain event in close succession. Finished the day here on 16mm. Not expecting much rain, if any, overnight. Currently 9c and still quite breezy out there, so a pretty decent wind chill.

15mm in FC so far. Heaps of hail, which took nearly six hours to full melt. Probably had a bit bounce out given the volume that fell.

Waiting on the next front tomorrow to reintroduce showers for us. Meanwhile, going to be a very wet few hours along the coastal strip.

We got 10mm yesterday which was at the upper end of what I was expecting. Nice to see some 'coldies' yesterday afternoon to top things off

Looks to be warm again on the coming weekend, but EC reckons decent rain (20mm or so) could fall with the front or trough after that.

3mm of drizzle overnight and still going now, nice and misty and calm, 7.8C after a low of 5C.

Lots of drizzle and fog in FC today with SW'ly warm air advection. Local gauges showing 6-9mm so far. Means most the Dandenongs have seen 20-25mm so a handy fall to break the latest dry spell.

Looks to be clearing a bit for today, with the last front in the sequence for tomorrow. That should be worth another 5mm or so.

Decent little event for most southern areas, with close to half a months worth of rainfall around the coastal strip. So so for northern areas, and another miss for the northwest

35mm for me on Mt Macedon, 22 of it was rain and the rest came as constant drizzle through Sunday til this morning.
By contrast just 14mm here at work in Macedon. Fine, sunny and windy again at Macedon now.

Rained/ drizzled off and on all day today, adding 2mm for the event to give us 22mm total. No sign of the sun; quite wintry.

At least when it finally decides to rain lately, it exceeds the model forecasts.

We mostly missed out on Sunday’s drizzle unfortunately, but picked up 1mm yesterday to bring the event to 17.1mm. Not bad overall, and certainly welcome in these otherwise dry times. Looks like another blocking pattern getting established with mostly dry weather for the next week, and warming up. I know some people will welcome continued warm to hot weather, but looks like we’ll be way above average for temps in mid to late April.

The Forecast for Launceston suggests every day from April 19th to April 24th will be 20 degrees or above. Can't remember anything like that in the second half of April.

City's 6.2 minimum is the coldest April morning in 6 years.

This April is obviously warmer than the last, as my gas bill is showing I have used 25% less gas (heating) compared to the same time last year.

First cold night for the year here - got down to 2.2c.

3C at my place but it got to -1C in the garden i work at in Macedon. Nice and frosty, first proper frost of the season.
It was -1 at Trentham as well.

3mm in the gauge yesterday (morning) so finished the event just over 30mm. Had hoped for 40mm, but to be honest 30mm is a good outcome One quirk of the event is that we've now had (about) 90mm in the past "month" so surprisingly good, but of course before it there was seven weeks with basically zilch

Unfortunately, we now go back into a week+ spell of dry weather, and temps will once again approach record highs for the time of year...

We dipped to 6C this morning, and to be honest the mins this morning really had a "drought" look and feel to them... Uppers were mild, but below the inversion dry air and soils allowed things to drop like a rock.

Visibility down to about 20 metres in places this morning on the way to Mornington. Haven't seen fog quite that thick in a few years I'd say.

Other places just have low cloud

I was wrong and the dry continues - I see nothing but high pressure dominance as systems move in all directions around SE Australia. It's depressing like the millennium drought. Can only hope that the forecast negative IOD eventuates and the SAM play ball at some point. Given the lag times between ocean and atmosphere it might be be until late June...
