little cells have broken through the force field to the west of Melbourne. How long will they last though..... indicates that the uppers are getting quite unstable, tomorrow might be very interesting.
A cell in currently just trying to cross the bay. Can clearly see the anvil to
the NW from here. I think it will collapse though before it reaches this area.
A big hot gust of wing and it starts raining, I thought it looked like it was going to go under us.
But a quick bit of development on the radar goes red, could be good!!!!
Apparently quite a few rumbles here from cells in the Yarra Valley but no rain. Nearest cells perhaps 10km away. Not completely giving up on today, but thinking it’s now waiting to see how tomorrow pans out. Friday has tended to look the best of the three days for Vic overall.
Rainband for late Sunday and Monday better across the models. CMC and ACCESS going for some big falls. EC and GFS ok but not quite as good.
Bit of an outflow boundary coming out of the storm cluster near Ballarat firing up new cells near the sea breeze. Edging south. That cell over the bays has also got more active. Am guessing quite unstable around central now. Would prefer this to happen at 5pm, but still a chance
This is a classic slow moving multicell cluster....losing energy in one spot, gains in another... the storm is getting larger looking at the cloud tops. Almost impossible to predict where it strengthens next. Lots of sparks. It's gaining over the range ATM, think it might get to metro northern suburbs.
Got to 31.4c here today. It cooled off quite a bit this afternoon with the sea breeze. Currently 21.7c, but with a dew point of 17c, it’s certainly feeling sticky. The sky to our north and west has gone very dark and the radar suggests at least a bit of rain soon. As Jasmine mentioned, it’s a tricky one to predict, as the pattern of rain keeps shifting around quite rapidly. It’s looking stronger further north at the moment, above Lancefield and heading towards Broadford and Kilmore. We might end up with a solid downpour or just a few spits! Just saw a lightning strike and the wind is picking up. At the very least, it’s good to see some rain on the Melbourne radar after such a long dry spell!
3mm's of rain from that storm. Its now moving away but has become very active
with frequent lightning and continous distant thunder to the south of me.
