In the next hour or so Macedonian. The freezing levels will slowly drop but anything above 700m is a chance for snow from noon IMO. Then it lowers tonight, so hopefully the moisture hangs in there.

Thanks JS, im at work in Macedon now and a front just went through, looks like it might be snow up on the mountain and the weather is coming in from a much more south-westerly direction than last night when it snowed.
It still only 3C at my place.

Start of the week - rain-shadowed from the North west
Mid week - land rain-shadowed from the west
Today - rain shadowed from the WSW (Otways)

And a nice cold bay to evaporate those showers :|

Still little or nothing on the east side of the bay, the showers are completely disintegrating as they come across the cold water. May be in with more of a chance when the flow goes a little more southerly and avoids the bay. We missed just about everything yesterday, the southern Dandenongs seemed to do okay as well as just north and east of us, but barely a sprinkle here, though could hear the thunder to our south.

Toes are pretty frozen being out in gumboots gathering some wood,
West has some pretty bluefish grey colours,
Thinking it's slipping by us nestled down the bottom of the mountain..

Just got absolutely smashed by rain & hail here, and to top it off I had a truck turn up right in the middle of it for loading. :o
No chance was I driving a forklift in the middle of that so kept him waiting.

Reckon our issue is partly the cool bay this time of year. Bass Strait is a couple of degrees colder than the bay so showers can struggle over it at times in winter. Expect this will be less an issue towards night (when the bay becomes favoured compared to land) and as colder air moves in the next few hours.

Our max for today is just 5.4C in FC so nice and chilly :D

Remote security cameras at home confirm hail with that last line of showers that just went through, and currently heading for the eastern suburbs.

It's wintery... (let's just hope Mount Dandenong get 20 centimetres of snow to make up for the last 9 years! :D )

Line of showers has just survived crossing the bay and is headed this way. May be boosted by colder air following behind.

Nice lot of snow here for us, doubt it will settle though. Nice to see more snow after the bit we got last week too. Temp 3.6 and falling

Looks like the island copped a decent hail storm this morning. Missed it by 24 hours as I'll be down there tomorrow.

Another heavy shower just pushed through here. No hail this time.

It's a sign of the times when u get excited by 1mm
The bay is just wrecking it
Hopefully things will get better when it goes more southerly

Very nice hail shower dumped through here. Beautiful sky; mean looking cumuloform coldies with blue skies in between and bleach white tops of the next showers imbound. Definiely colder air moving through now.

Geez really struggling in the usually wet Dandenongs. Just 0.2mm for today so far :? Most unusual that we aren't topping the region with a swly flow.

Yes please. That said, reckon we'd need more like a metre to make up for all the snow that's gone missing. When I shifted in I was told there was a couple of good falls a year by a long time resident.

I maintain that we are in a period of sheer bad luck the last 10 or so years.

Nothing can convince me otherwise. Just look at the radar!!!!

Showers are coming, coming, coming...then gone!

Yes DJ really surprising that the Dandenongs have been missing out so far.
Even Laverton in the normally dry western suburbns has had 5mm's so far today.
