After being on 'Alert' for a few months, BOM have just downgraded to 'Watch'

Interesting connection hillybilly - I remember the October 1993 floods very well.

Not that there's any necessary relationship between this 'Non-Nino' event and October 1993, but the Hume Highway was cut and Lake Eildon was spilling at (from memory) 120,000 ML/d - almost the equivalent volume of Lake Cairn Curran going over the wall every 24 hrs :o . It was floodlit and quite a spectacle. To this day I haven't seen flooding like it on several other north-east streams.

Large areas of Victoria ended up with above average to very much above average rainfall, though 1994 was dry.

There was also major flooding in major river systems in September 1993 in Victoria including the Maribyrnong river and flooding also in Gippsland with Seapray being impacted severely.
