Flood Watch for upper north western NSW for Sunday and Monday
Issued at 12:33 PM on Friday the 29th of January 2010

Note: Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].

During Sunday a low pressure trough associated with the remnants of Tropical
Cyclone Olga is forecast to extend over western NSW. This system is expected to
bring widespread rain and moderate to possibly heavy falls to parts of western
NSW from Sunday through into early next week.

This forecast heavy rain could cause local flooding in the state over an area
north of Wilcannia and Cobar and west of Brewarrina during Sunday and Monday.

The NSW State Emergency Service advises landholders in this area to prepare for
possible isolation due to floodwaters.

The rain could also lead to renewed main river flooding along the Paroo,
Warrego, Culgoa, Birrie, Bokhara, Narran and Darling Rivers later next week.

Flood Warnings are current for the Darling and Warrego Rivers.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams
must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to
higher ground should flooding develop. Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor
Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for
which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Across NSW,
about 70% of Flood Watches are followed by flooding.

FloodSafe advice is available at http://www.ses.nsw.gov.au

For emergency assistance call the SES on telephone number 132 500.
For life threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately.

Flodd Watch back up! :cheers2:

Flood Watch for upper north western NSW
Issued at 11:34 AM on Monday the 1st of February 2010

Note: Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].

A low pressure trough associated with the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Olga is
forecast to extend over western NSW over the next few days. This system is
expected to bring widespread rain and moderate to possibly heavy falls to parts
of western NSW throughout this week.

For early this week the most likely area for local flooding is far north west
NSW in the Tibooburra area.

Later this week there is still a risk that this rain could cause local flooding
in other parts of the state north of Wilcannia and Cobar and west of Walgett.

The NSW State Emergency Service advises landholders in this area to prepare for
possible isolation due to flood waters.

The rain could also lead to renewed main river flooding along the Paroo,
Warrego, Culgoa, Birrie, Bokhara and Narran Rivers later this week. Renewed
rises are also possible along the Barwon Darling River.

Across NSW,
about 70% of Flood Watches are followed by flooding.

some solid Cu going up to my south over the ranges. According to Wz convective outlook there could be some possible storms to hunt down tonight to my west.
Plenty of moisture will feed into central nsw, but from the general patterns of canberra i'd say this will struggle to make it's way here. On GFS we should have a finger
of unstable air at around 2pm to our south, so i guess that's what i'm seeing atm.

I think you may get a bit of shower and storm activity over the middle to late part of the week Greg and they could be quite dumpy. So I think we should see this extend into next week as well as another trough feature develops.

Flood Watch for local flooding in upper north western NSW
Issued at 11:35 AM on Tuesday the 2nd of February 2010

Note: Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].

A high pressure system over southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to Queensland
coast directing moist winds into a low pressure trough over northwestern New
South Wales associated with ex-Tropical Cyclone Olga. During Tuesday and
Wednesday the trough will deepen bringing rain to the west of the state. The
trough and rain area expected to contract slowly to north and east during
Thursday and Friday.

For the next few days some local flooding is possible in the far north west NSW
in the Tibooburra area.

Later this week there is still a risk of some local flooding in other parts of
the state north of Wilcannia and Cobar and west of Walgett, although forecast
rain totals for the area are now less than they were some days ago.

The NSW State Emergency Service advises landholders in this area to prepare for
possible isolation due to flood waters.

The rain could also lead to renewed main river flooding along the Paroo,
Warrego, Culgoa, Birrie, Bokhara and Narran Rivers later this week.

Flood Warnings are current for the Darling and Warrego Rivers.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams

Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for
which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Across NSW,
about 70% of Flood Watches are followed by flooding.

Flood Watch for local flooding in upper north western NSW
Issued at 11:19 AM on Wednesday the 3rd of February 2010

Note: Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a
Flood Warning [see note below].

A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the Queensland coast
directing moist winds into a low pressure trough over northwestern New South
Wales bringing rain to the western districts. During Wednesday and Thursday the
trough will deepen and move eastwards with rain extending to most of the coastal
areas by Friday but clearing from the far west.

The Tibooburra area has about 70 millimetres of rain on the past 2 days but
there have been no reports of any local flooding.

Later this week there is still a risk of some local flooding in other parts of
the state north of Cobar, east of Bourke and west of Walgett. However, forecast
rain totals for this area are now less than they were earlier this week.

The NSW State Emergency Service advises landholders in this area to prepare for
possible isolation due to flood waters.

The rain could also lead to renewed main river flooding along the Culgoa,
Birrie, Bokhara and Narran Rivers later this week.

Some renewed flooding has occurred along the Paroo and Warrego Rivers in
Queensland and the possible impact in NSW will be monitored.

Weekly rain bulletin for the Upper Western district reports falls between 25mm & 80mm were common.
Not the big, big falls that were forecast early in the piece. They are occurring closer to the coast.
