morning cloud quickly cleared to a beautiful clear sunny day, quite perfect actually. Now it's pleasant, however I can smell smoke in the air, but have no idea where that's from.
today was nice and warm, but I do not want to believe it will be the end of summer, despite the cool wet conditions coming up, i really hope for a few more warm day in late March and April!
Lets hope for our sake we stay in mid 20s at the most. That is normal for here.... But I am thinking I could be asking too much. So longs we keep getting rainfall and start seeing the northern progression of the LWT over the coming 2 weeks then I think we are on track towards a coldish winter. Delicious!!
Had a nice sunset before. Was cloudy but there was a small gap between the horizon and the clouds so you could see the sky gradient from blue to red/hot pink.
Nothing wrong with today. 31C in Melbourne on the 4th March in NEs ahead of a low. Pretty much your textbook definition of normal weather for this time of year. From here on in it will get progressively cooler with little over the low 20s in Melbourne after tomorrow and a few days in a row 16C/17C for here by early next week.
A beautiful and sunny day today with moderate north to northeast winds. Temperature maxed out at about 30 degrees. Some cloud developed during this afternoon and by the end of school it was pretty much cloudy.

Woke up this morning to the sound of rainfall on the roof. When I went outside I checked the gauge and we have recorded 4mm to 9am. It was a mostly cloudy day at school with rain periods during the day, some locally heavy at times, and I suspect rainfall totals would be greater at school compared to at home as dad only mentioned light to moderate rainfall on and off during the day. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see the 9am reading in the gauge. Temperature was fairly cool today, only reaching to the low 20's and conditions were very moist, humid. Light winds generally from the north, shifted southeast during the latter part of the afternoon as the trough moved through. I should also mention that there was very thick smoke around this afternoon in particular. I could not see further than 1km at times.
It was also quite an odd bus trip home. It took a lot longer than usual as we were diverted to different roads because of a petrol truck roll-over. Apparantley the accident was pretty bad, we did not see it, but reports coming in that the truck rolled into a farm or paddock. Not sure if anything apart from the truck was damaged and not sure if there were any fires. I will find out tomorrow night and update as my uncle is in the CFA and I think he attended the accident. So we got home about 20-30 mins later today!

Overcast as usual up here.Temp a muggy 20.8 with a slight breeze.More showers to come tonite so we'll
probably wake up with a heavy fog in the morning.Been very wet up here with high humidity for the last 11 weeks,
pretty unusual for it to persist this long.
Fire Weather Briefing for Victoria
Issued at 10:45 am EDT on Wednesday 10 March 2010.
Estimates Today:
Maximum temperatures could be a degree or two lower than forecast, especially
on and south of the ranges due to cloud cover, which is expected to persist
during the day. Also winds in central parts north of the Divide and generally
in the west are likely to be 5-10km/h stronger than forecast. Apart from that
the estimates are OK.
Observational Network Status:
Albury AWS, which is currently offline, is expected to be fixed today. Cape
Otway AWS will be having some tests done today and will have some intermittent
outages. Lastly Portable AWS VICI near Marysville is currently offline.
Weather Situation:
A deep low pressure system southeast of Tasmania will move further
southeastwards today. A strong high pressure system will cross Bight waters
today before moving slowly across Tasmania on Friday and Saturday to reach the
Tasman Sea on Sunday.
24 Hour Rainfall to 9am:
The central third of the state recorded rainfall totals of generally less than
6mm with 11mm at Arthurs Seat the highest 24hr total.
Weather Today:
Fine apart from isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Cool to mild with
a moderate to fresh southwest to southerly wind slowly easing.
With the big high progged to sit in the same place for at least a week we can look forward to drizzle and showers and cool se winds increasing towards the weekend. This is the sort of setup i hate the most about living up here
Yeah it is a little boring but look we must go through the transition into winter so these highs will dominate for a period. Just got to push them north!!! Will be worth it.
Signs of moisture increasing from the NW over the continent through the weekend into next week so something is brewing in the not too distant future.
Heat island effect working well today 20.2c in the CBD meanwhile Essendon airport 18.4c & Melbourne airport 17.9c and other areas/suburbs are similar so in other words that 20c+ today in the CBD isn't really a reality of whats really happening out there today. So the record of these 20c+ days should really of ended today IMO given how cool the airmass is and given the CBD is usually a good 1.5c - 2c warmer than most other areas of Melbourne on days like today, it should never of gotten to 20.6c on the Monday January 18th in the cold outbreak was only due to the heat island effect once again that it did so those 20c+ days record is misleading.
Possibility of a cyclone impacting the QLD coast in about 10 days and the way tropical moisture has been advected south this year there's a chance of some more decent rain before the end of march.

be over Tasmania on Friday and Saturday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Sunday.
