It wont be a lunie Lunar eclipse, cuckoo getting up at strange am hours in the freezing cold anyway.
Well we could only dream that 10th Dec we could have southern light to photograph as the moon goes into the eclipse and kill 2 birds while out in the summer warmth.
Now wouldn't that be great Michelle Also I want to thank Michelle for all the info she has given me about the heavens, it has really increased my limited knowledge and gave me the necessary kick to get out of bed early for this

this makes you realize our Light Pollution..!
what a great view this would have been,
I recall in younger days, late winter nights in Wesburn admiring the Milky Way on clear nights.
You're right Shell, I had been living in Richmond for 20 years and now I'm back in Dandy Nth, I'm actually shocked at how clear the milky way has been some nights. Obviously it's nothing like the country but still I get amazing views of it some nights when there's a new moon to the point where I can clearly see the split in the middle and the other cluster off to the side. Since the volcanic ash cloud has been lingering over us the last few days there is a notable difference. I'm also quite surprised that the lights from Dandenong central don't seem to obscure the view as much as I thought it would. Nothing beats Wilsons Prom in winter on a clear night, that's the best I've ever seen it, even compared to going central inland VIC, NSW and QLD .
That's a nice time lapse with the city underneath. I ended up doing a time lapse on the diagonal too and I think it looks much better than straight across. At any rate it was an amazing eclipse
