I would think almost Ben, temps at sea level with this band are at 6c. Going by the rule that roughly by going up 100m, the temps drops 1c. So this would mean temps would be around 1c? Sounds too low ahaha

Hail?

If that's snow, then... time to get excited!

We're getting little mushy-hail showers.

Currently at sky high mount Dandenong, just had agraupel shower come through. But the other stuff coming though soon...WOW. If that doesn't have snow in it I'd be surprised. Pics to come soon.

Showers building on radar but they would have to get pretty intense for snow to fall now that the temp is up to 9C here and 13C in Melbourne. It got down to 1C overnight but only very briefly. The sun just has too much heating power for any genuine chance of snow during daylight hours. I guess the Dandenongs could still get some as I expect some pretty intense shower bands to hit there this afternoon that could cause big drops in temperature.

You're right about that. Had a shower come through at sky high, but no snow. So frustrating. I was expecting it as its higher than 500M. I guess the showers just came too late today. Something might happen with the next round.

Just had a bit of sleety stuff but melting into large drops before hitting the ground. Aside from that the droplets are mostly small but quite dense, a little more actual precipitation falling than the intensity echoes from the radar suggest, which would be mostly due to the small droplets not producing much reflectivity. Temp dropped from 9C to 5.5C during the shower.

Convection starting to take off a bit now. I can see a decent Cb anvil to the near SW and some lumpier looking Cu around. It still could get interesting through the afternoon as the peak of the upper trough passes over us.

BTW, looking a bit feral for the GF despite mets and some others making out it was going to stay mostly fine. A big shower passing through Werribee atm, these will only intensify as they cross the bay.

We've had a few borderline sleet showers here. Actually quite a bit more shower activity locally than I was expecting. We're actually doing alright. The temperature dropped down to 3C here shortly after 2pm in a lengthy shower so there has definitely been solid snow up the top of Mount Macedon. It would be interesting to see if it has settled or not up there.

After our dusting of real snow early this morning, no more decent precipitation until about midday, after which we collected 5 mm worth of sleety showers.

Great rain event though with 32 mm so far, bringing us to an even 90 mm mtd so we will sneak over the monthly average yet again. Impressively cold too; I never saw more 6 C on the thermometer today.

Amazing day today, nice to be inside most of the time, heating still pumping.

Chilly night too, and an absolutely cracking full moon too:

Just wanted to mention this from a friend of mine in Brisbane....
Grrreetings 93,
well, we got some rain last night, if you call 3mm rain that is! So, our drought continues really, really need some more. Please ask your friends at the Australian Weather Forum to send some decent precipitation north A.S.A.P.
cheers

Ended up with 9mm here so pretty good and a very nice suprise, thought I might have got only 5mm, still need that nice 25mm dump to make average for the month which won't happen and just over half the monthly avg infact so dissapointing. :(

Rhino. :) :)

The old man reported snow flurries near Daylesford yesterday morning (around 600m A.S.L). So it was certainly a decently cold airmass.
