Something to keep an eye on thats for sure.. Lets not forget GFS was onto Christmas Day a for a week the weekend before and was generally consistent about it.. Which was the thread I started.. EC never had any decent falls with the odd 3, 5, 7 mm falls for Melbourne that was about it as the week progressed which I think I touched on a couple of times in that thread during that week. EC has been out of whack for a while only 5 days ago it had this system as a slow moving trough moving slowly over the state where no other model showed that at any time especially GFS... EC had rain areas progged across the state for many days with this system especially for Southern areas GFS generally didn't hence BOMS forecasts once again being out of whack. I can freely say EC has gone down hill since 2008 but even moreso the past few months I have kept a close eye on it and GFS seems to be handling things better when it comes to positioning of highs/lows/fronts/troughs.
It's all over the place here now. Fairly heavy rain with huge drops that literally lasts about 20 seconds and then eases back for a minute and then comes back for another 30 seconds etc. In the midst of all this the cloud is breaking up and there is some sun poking through.
Wow!! Look at the radar! Looks like one very intense line of showers and thunderstorms is getting organised over the Melbourne area, with a few preceding cells (equally intense).
Hmmm I'm sitting on my back door step looking at the cell east of Scoresby which should be pouring on us but it's not...doesn't even look like rain is falling from it, but I'm inexperienced with this stuff.
Some real loud thunder here. Cant see any Lightning. But some nice rain. Hopefully more to come in the next week or 2 because the grass has gone crusty yellow. Stark contrast to last year.
Amazing at how fast these little cells are moving....dropping large amounts of rain but too localised to really be picked up. Cracks of thunder right overhead now but they'll be gone in 5 mins...

That storm forecast is not for today, check when it was issued
I was just about to type that there is all these strikes on the map but we had not seen a flash or heard a rumble - just had a flash, rumble, FLANG!!!!
LOL, I was just walking outside to take a look at what was happening when the flang hit. The strike was just the other side of the house and had that lovely, crisp bang sound to it
Rog.
P.S. how fast is that cell going that is tracking from just east of Yarr Glen to Phillip Island?? It has covered 76km in half an hour
