Maybe you should check things out in the siesmic records? - dunno if an exploding comet overhead would record, but if you felt it, you'd reckon so would the established sensors.

Otherwise, yep, you've got it - exploding head syndrome. :o

Much sympathy as I experience it most Sat and Sun mornings. :?

Hi guys, I hope you don't mind me asking you a favour, things haven't been to great of late but one thing I have done is enter a photo in the Weather Channel comp.

I'd love a DSLR and they have 12 to give away, if you would like to vote for my photo I'd really appreciate it

All you have to do is follow this link to their facebook site and click "LIKE" which then enables you to vote http://www.facebook.com/weatherchannel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then come back here and click on this link to vote for my photo

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

once the photo is full frame then click "LIKE" underneath it,

Cheers, and thanks Paul.

Oh the photo is the side/rear view of a clear air supercell I took in Brisbane on holidays.

I see you have over 50 likes, how many likes do you think you need to win the cam..?
Best of luck anyway..

All done, Tizz x

OMG, can someone please make it stooooooooooop? I'm at Eildon, there's a bunch of nine year old girls inside absolutely crucifying every song they sing on Singstar. They're currently singing Ring of Fire and bugger me if the people next door don't start blasting it out at the same time.

Ohhhhhh, my poor head! :laughing:

Argghh, I would have loved to have entered that comp, but it closed a week ago! Why didn't anyone tell me?! :P

Oh well, voted for you Tizz! I'll ignore the urge to "like" any of the other photos on there! Some nice shots, but I wouldn't wanna deny you a DSLR, knowing how much fun they are :P

Will log in under the missus name too and give you another vote too ;)

Thanks so much guys, I just can't afford to buy one and would just love one. I really appreciate all your support. There are some fantastic pics in there, I just hope I make the top 30 and that the judges know how hard it can be to get a shot of a clear air supercell from behind. It was black cored on radar within 20 or so minutes from forming, I have never seen one form that big that quickly in my life. It was literally a tiny Cu as it drifted over us on the back deck and was a monster in a matter of minutes.

Quite an interesting development re: the death of Osama Bin Laden, but I am also in realm of shock, considering how long Bin Laden has managed to evade US and other countries troops, this has popped up all of a sudden. I am sure there will be a lot of of reprieve in some of the families of those who lost loved ones. I remember the attacks (9/11) so well when I was a kid, every channel had coverage, and it was just a disaster. I'm just going to go out there and say it ... I'm glad he's gone, he was nothing but trouble!! Bit of an upgrade to the travel to America and to their citizens in regards to reprisal attacks.

I have to say, I feel pretty uncomfortable seeing the celebrations and rejoicing over a human being's death, no matter how deserved some may think it is. Shoot me down in flames, but I can't feel comfortable with it. This is doing the rounds of Facebook, sums it up for me:

"I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." - Martin Luther King, Jr."

Don't think you are alone in feeling that way Lily. I don't think anyone is sorry to see him gone he was unquestionably evil. But a huge price has been paid for his death, 1000's of young lives have been lost fighting this war for the past 10 years. And that's the point lost on many American's they can't see the price they have paid for this "victory". Really other than revenge which at the end of the day this is their motivation what is to be gained by Bin Laden's death? I really doubt much will chnage.

Yes Lily I was talking about the same thing with my husband last night. Travel alerts have also been issued not only for the US but for the world. Not good news when I'm about to take off again. I fear many reprisals
