WoW - that was some action which included one of the largest cracks I have ever heard. The place lite up like a welding torch and shook like the earth tremor had hit.
She only just finished moments ago. The back end brought about torrential rain for 10 or so minutes. Weather Station recorded a rainfall rate of 205mm/hr or 3.4mm per minute at 8:22pm. (Total = 9.5mm)
sky has cleared after that rain and i can see towers everywhere from the Sw to the NE....a whole bank across every horizon! That extra 3 degrees today just made it even better for tonight. Would not surprise to see it go until dawn. usually 3.30 is the kick off time for anything overnight. Hopefully it is again, or just goes right through. Either way, im off to bed and up at 3.30 for work.
Radar firing up, certainly not dying down yet. Best action is in coastal and bay areas for now. Just got a garden variety shower before but looks more promising to the NW on radar and also to the west a few new cells popping up.
Well finaly found a semi decent setup on my poor excuse for a camera only for the actionto move out of veiw. Great show tho, the high level cc is beautiful with so little messy clouds around the towers
Some nice cells have just fired near Kyneton. So much for BOMs Severe Thunderstorm Warning, bemuses me that they don't have the better part of the state under it.
Wow that was insane, would be the best storm here since i moved here 9 years ago. Incredible lightning even though it was mostly cc. Just emptied 54.6mm's out of the gauge, now up to 83mm's for the month.
This is a near dream set-up for Central areas in terms of convective night time activity, make the most of it guys, just had some lightning to the NW by the looks of things.
Edit: Looks as though a line is trying to form north of Bendigo all the way down through the Eastern suburbs now.
