Just cracked 40mm!
Even happier now!
My tanks are full again after getting way too low for October. Had a 20minute shower after work to celebrate the occasion.

We too are on Tank water at Lilydale, and agree Macedonian, our tanks were too low for October, at 17000 gallons, we are now upto 19500 gallons and 39mls, so relieved to be almost full, not that I mind too much about buying some water if necessary, but the taste is not good and it isn't cheap.

Pengaz wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2023 6:49 am That shot of warm air during the night was bizarre for this time of year. Woke up to a howling north westerly at 3.30 that appears to be the reason for the jump from 12c at 2am to 27.6c at 4am. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

Back to calm and trying to rain here now, but sure how we will fare from this event. Tend to get rain shadowed from the NW and the SE, so wouldn’t be surprised if we are on the lower end of the rain totals.

That’s is Bizarre…
I thought our day time temp never dropped..
very strange happenings…
The morning prior we had 5c.
63mm. Since it started Tuesday am….
Hope you had a gentle amount of rain..

38mm in Kangaroo Flat, although Bendigo Airport AWS got 48mm.

A great rain system going into an el-Nino summer.

Heaps of daily record falls through the eastern third of VIC. I didn’t have the record hot and dry September (and July to September followed by record rainfall on the 2023 climate bingo. Crazy flip. Good for putting a lengthy pause on the fire season in eastern Vic which is excellent news. In the Nongs I tended to find 50-100mm put a pause on things for a month, even with little follow-up rain.

Now I guess the concern is though the dry lead in will help. So far rivers sitting mostly at minor to moderate, but it continues to rain.

Rain finally spreading into Tas. Eastern third of the state is dry, so really needs something.

37mm here. Currently drizzle and foggy. Very handy system and such a relief to finally get a decent rain event.

Amazing totals further east with that relentless rain band. Hopefully it will also be useful for the NSW south coast, which has been extremely dry the past few months and also battling fires.

Still raining lightly here, pretty much non stop for over 24 hours. No wind. Am yet to measure the gauge but looks like the best daily fall I’ve had since living here. Parents house on the other side of town had 73mm to this morning, so am expecting similar here plus whatever else has fallen since.

Looks like we’ve just fallen short of Warragul’s historical daily record of 79.8mm for October.

Radar filling up again and sky darkening again here so looking like we’re in for another heavier spell. Looks like some circulation is trying to get going with the low.

Very wet further east in the valley and Sale cracking the ton. They’ve still got the wrap around to deal with, so will be interested to see what event totals they end up with.

Amazing, unreal HUGE rain event 200mm plus in the Alps, widespread 80 to 150mm in 24 hours, lots of daily records and still loads more to come out east

40mm here so far should crack 60mm for the event

Lots of Minor, Mod and some Major flooding this will also push back fires 4 to 6 weeks.

Big falls along the Murray to 25 to 40mm will save many many crops, prefect timing after hot Sept saved billions this event crop wise I reckon

Tanks filled, dams and rivers nice flush and infeed and another 50 to 150mm to come in the hills and Gippy way :o :o

Modeals nailed this over a week out impressive just like last Oct rain event but further east and on much drier ground

images below for keep sake great event wow

70mm precisely for us so far. Very happy.
Top temp this arvo was 6.2°. That's cold. Pretty much our July average max in October.
4.7° now.

40mm here. Definitely happy. Did not expect it, despite models picking it a week out.

After a couple of brief lulls during the late afternoon, raining solidly again here. Radar has really thickened over the past few hours as the wrap around establishes, bit surprised it’s this far west.

Looks like a nice wrap around effect hitting the bunyip state park area. Love to see it. Badly needed system

Lake Eildon is full again. And it looks like they've begun releasing water.

When I saw the prefrontal convection near Mildura on Monday evening, I had a gut feeling this was going to deliver.

Such a good system to have with the +ve IOD really starting to kick in off Sumatra (significant upwelling of cold water now apparent).

5c start in Bendigo this morning with a SWly blowing. Chilly.
