Just read an emergency management update for our shire (west of Melbourne) saying another 20-40mm expected with the front between 4pm and 7pm.
Intensifying frontal band about to hit here so we'll see, but very plausible given how slowly it's moving. Ballarat Airport has had 20mm between 1.30pm and 3.30pm and still hammering down out there.

Sounds scary Gordon.
When is the wind change likely to happen?
I've just hit 100mm for the event.
Very close on Windy Macedonian, but so slow moving, it's hard to say where the actual front is right now. Very heavy rain is back after a few hours break, so assume the front is here.
Pouring rain again for the grand finale now. Several highways now shut and Eppalock's secondary spillway likely to go over tonight. Event total now 100mm...

Looks like there's no avoiding heavy rain for much of Vic and Tas out of this coming system.
Fingers crossed for a late change in the models, but it doesn't look hopeful - broad agreement for a few days now.
Credit to BOM and the models for picking this system fairly accurately from a long way out. No crying wolf this time: we are a long way behind many for rainfall and intensity, but even so, we have lots of road closures locally, cancelled public transport, and even flooded houses.

Even with 25mm down here, there is some substantial flooding starting, with the SES at a couple of properties near Pearcedale.
Will be trouble after this next band.
Ofcourse, nowhere near as bad as northern Victoria
It's fast becoming another January 2011 disaster....
Tas Rain since 9am: Mt Barrow 78mm, Mt Arthur 72mm, Great Lake East 71mm, Lake Mackenzie 61mm, Gray 48mm, Scottsdale 39mm, Deloraine 34mm, Launceston 17mm. Great Lake East 256mm in last 24 hours.
There saying Seymour is expecting the flood levels of 1974, which means flooding of the lower end of town. From the Mcdonalds area - through to the Via duct (Im sure many people have been to Seymour)
Flood disaster unfolding across the north between the Calder and the Hume every river in Major flood in this area
All rivers still all rocketing north in this area well above Major Flood levels be some serious widespread flooding up there with widespread inundation of homes, properties and businesses and massive flooding of farm land and maybe some crops and tons of road closures as well.
Still another 20 to 40mm for these areas before the band clears out early tomorrow
