Same here, rumbles, scared dog and brief heavy rain - more just now.
Haven't checked the gauge (won't be anything significant) but coupled with a cool breeze most of the night, a nice contrast to yesterday's bright hot sun and 29C. 15C now.
Hello from Hobart , now sitting bang on 22.4 average for November which currently equals the current record in 2017. Still no rain. Take care and stay safe in regional Victoria and South Australia,
La Niña hopefully will kick in soon
We really desperately needed an early decent monsoon season but alas not happening thus the nasty heat once again building drawing into the south.
Anyway enough raving from me and again stay safe everyone.
23.9c max here today, which occurred this morning. The rest of the day has been around 17-18c. Big contrast to areas north of the divide. The models were looking a bit better this morning for rain here, but have since reverted to confining the heaviest falls further south. The BOM has forecast 8-15mm here, but based on current projections I reckon it will be quite a lot less than 10mm, although happy to be proven wrong
22C for a max here, and now a foggy 15C. Crazy heat up north. 47.5C in SA, 46.9C in NSW and 45.7C in Vic. The SA and Vic numbers are near misses on the state records (by 0.4 and 0.1C) and the second highest recorded, while the NSW ob is a new NSW record (by 0.1C). Just stupid heat for November and a La Niña
Solid rain band for tonight, with heavy falls on the west coast, thinning as it edges north. Looks like the southern burbs of Melbourne around Avalon and Flinders could well see 20mm or more, while the northeast burbs might get less than 5mm.
Slipped south 1.8mm here so far. Perhaps a few more bursts to come.
Unfortunately looks like we are gonna fall short of the monthly average, still needing 8mm.
Great falls about the coastal strip, Bass Strait and northern Tasmania. Shame the whole system didn’t land 100km further north.
Btw few big gusts. Very low pressure, dropping to 991hPa here earlier. Gonna make for a dangerously windy day in eastern parts and NSW with some nasty fire weather.
Scored one heavy shower on the backend of the change. Finished on 4.4mm. Bit of a bust. Was expecting 10mm and hoping for a bit more.
Looking to the next system on Tuesday for our next weather.
Looks like Sydney has had its hottest November night on record. If they get to 40C today will be only the second time in history, and first time outside of January.
Steady rain still falling across the northern half of Tasmania. Rain last 24 hrs: Mt Barrow 30mm, Wynyard 27mm, Launceston 25mm, Low Head 22mm, Devonport 22mm, Hobart 0mm
Gosh, strong wind down there at Wilsons Prom - cyclone strength. Woke up to big gusts of wind here in the early hours but fortunately only clocked a maximum of 55km/h.
8.2mm here so far. About 3mm of that has fallen as drizzle and showers over the last hour. It's still coming down, but the radar suggests it may be stopping soon. Shame the main rain band slipped so far south, but good to see southwest VIC and Tasmania getting some decent rain, especially northern Tasmania given how dry it has been there the past month.
MTD now 81mm, which is about 9mm above average for here. We have also just ticked past 900mm for the year, now on 905mm.
Thought we had missed this one with just 4mm from the rainband, then got under a stream of heavy showers and scored a further 7mm Puts us on 120mm so just above average (by about 2mm)
Sydney just gone passed 40C Not nice with gales or worse up there
