Under the anvil from the storm entering the Yarra Valley. Just hearing the first rumbles. The bigger cells are tapping the shear and look to be rotating cyclonicly into the sea breeze.

Lots of chunky Cu sat under the anvil so firing nicely.

EDIT> now getting big booms almost continuous to our north :D sea breeze is really getting sucked into the monster with the southerly picking up here. We should see northerlies push down through the Yarra Valley as the storms edge south and the trough deepens to our west.

Looks like a nothing day here. Dew point at the Airport (Ballarat) has dropped below zero, so dry here.
Can just see the tops of those storms NE Of Melbourne.
Locally just a few fair weather Cu around.
Fizzer here I think for today anyway. Again. :x

Ok i take back my comments from earlier. Good old sky watching (as opposed to computer watching) is showing rapid development. Mammatus to my near North-East. Quietly excited. :D :D :D

Same here Dane, flat as a pancake, can see some of the convection to the east,
they look mean on the radar, to some extent I am happy to not be under the worst.
Bom is warning for large hail.
Hopefully some rain tomorrow, but might be in the hole again

Few 20-30mm falls showing up already in the Yarra Valley. Looks to be about fifteen minutes away here. Rumbles are booming to the north :D

Might put the car in the garage :?

Yep, I'd tend to agree with HB about the car under the carport

Slightly dying down as it heads this way so we'll see what happens, but plenty of action behind it

Just as well we are delaying the trip home from the island, would be driving right through those storms. :o

Instead we will wait here and enjoy the show if they make it down this far.

I have never seen this with my eyes. Over the space of about 15 minutes the mammatus that was coming in from the north east dissipated and looked like it turned into low cloud that is now coming in from the south east. Some sort of boundary i guess???

And yep in true fashion storms have split into two and will now bypass me. Can here thunder however

The dangerous thunderstorm at Lillydale is a right mover and drawing away from the Dangenongs. Interesting interactions with the seabreeze. Rumbles here but not expecting much from this first band. NE is not usually a good direction for Belgrave.

Closing in on here, as mentioned by others near constant thunder, rain soon. Brought laundry home from nursing home after lunch, happy, it is washed and off the line dry.
