Victoria - Troughs and possible low - September 1-7 2019

Post by hillybilly »

Messy Progs for the week ahead with a series of trough, and a possible low developing. Hard to pick the details as they vary a lot across the models and runs.

Today starts with a fading trough. This system has quite unstable air so will bring some locally heavy showers and possibly rumbles, particular west and ranges.

Mid week brings more troughs in the sequence. There is warm, near record warm, air edging down into NSW so if it goes a bit more northerly could get quite warm. Cooler for later in the week and more showers.

The airmass over Australia is very dry and warm so the area to the north of any low will miss most the rain and get warm/hot with gusty winds. EC has mid 30s in parts of northern NSW on Thursday and Friday which is not what they need with gusty winds :?

Yeah Pos IOD is going to kill much of this country over the next few months unless we get a random heavy rain event.

Hot dry dusty 8 months ahead for the inland though locally be ok, till summer.

Thunderdy rain almost here just mm or 2 most weakning but
Bring on the heat and stroms

Brief downpour including pea sized hail and some rumbles in Werribee, feels like it's been ages...

Nice start to spring. Warm sunny arvo ending in a downpour with a bit of small hail and a bank of fog. Not big totals, but a handy 5mm here. Just keeps it ticking over. Garden will appreciate regular falls through spring ;)

Didn’t hear any rumbles, but was noisy rain so possible I just missed it.

No sparks / rumbles here, but 2.8mm which I will take given the possible winds ahead (2nd half of the month...).

Rainy heavily here atm. Pretty sure I heard rumble :?:

EDIT> another 5mm from that lot. 10mm for the day. EC and GFS only had 2-4mm so a good result. Always nice when the models under do things. Lucky on the timing with the change mid arvo with heating to fire it up.
