Dew point is a crazy 14.7c atm. The last time we had such tropical air over us in the month of May was the night of the 2003 tornado which damaged about 50 homes....

My old neighbourhood of Wyndham Vale and nearby Werribee is getting smashed. I don't think they forecast that!
Can confirm! Scored 8mm and plenty of rumbles from that cell that's strobing over the bay
Just missed the core of those earlier clusters but now up to 14mm. Springhill just SW of here now up to 35mm. Some nice snaking multicell clusters heading South to south west. That one heading over the bay is getting quite angry.
Nice flashback SB with 2003.
I've just checked the uppers for later on and in my opinion the BoM should issue a pre-emptive severe thunderstorm warning for areas east of the trough for the night hours. The jet stream is starting to power this outbreak. Central areas will have winds near 130 km/h at 850 hPa around 4am. Wet microbursts will do plenty of damage if they spawn.
Great downpour here, I was in Melbourne all day so I missed it. Plenty of water laying around in the paddocks between Melton and B.Marsh. Backyard is a muddy pond as I’ve yet to landscape it.

Is that a V notch near the heads??
Nice spotting Looks like the V notch signature is starting to appear of the 5.50pm frame near the south channel BoM ob.....and then the black core appears on the 6pm frame heading for Rosebud.
128km Doppler is detecting something nasty to my NW.
Very Otway-centric atm. Hoping that something builds further east. A band looks to be building between Swan Hill and Deniliquin, which would stream down into central areas, but the last couple of sat frames shows signs of decay (lighting has already stopped).
4mm so far today. Far west central seems to be doing well right now, with a steady stream showers coming down from the NNW. I’m still not confident how we will go here, given potential rain shadow effects and wherever convergence lines appear. Good to still have 4mm in the gauge anyhow, but we only managed 7mm in total for April, so lots of catching up to do! Quite mild at the moment - currently 17c with a 14c DP.
