Interesting to note that it's 12 months since an epic hailstorm that we copped on the evening of 17th July last year. Gold medal for winter squall line and storm would be the cold front after the record breaking heat of 18th July, 2013....

I really hope this pattern changes before summer. If today was January it would be Code Red for fires. At the very least lets hope the SAM contracts and put's us in the NE wind flow.

Winds are strong and look stronger to the west - watching for the squall line which could be nasty. Current winds would be pushing water out of the bay at the heads.

AAO is heading back into -ve territory - i.e. Strong westerlies but potentially more rain for much of Vic.

But yes, a bit of a hairdryer out there today...

I'm heading up to Kilmore straight after work, could be quite an interesting drive up. :sccary:

Very warm for July now. We've gone from -1c at 8am to 16c at 1pm. Very Spring-like.

Front has gone through Horsham and has dropped the temp from 16c to 10c. Very Spring-like.

Bloody freezing here (again!) though mainly due to the wind and rain, which is quite heavy at times. I briefly saw double figure temps, but back to 9C now.

At least the wind has eased a little with the rain - lost a couple of big limbs in the gusts earlier and I'm not game to check out the far end of the property just yet...

Looks nice from a distance here. High top icy clouds suggests it could be quite nasty soon :D

I'm not one for over doing it but its absolutely horrendous here now. Worst conditions I have seen in years. Will be widespread problems as a result of this

Agreed Andy, always hard to be objective when the storm is on top of you, but now that it's passed here, I'd still rate that as the worst wind we've had for ages. Can't believe we haven't suffered more damage and still have power! (5mm of rain in short time too.)

Edit: Ballarat had several 100km/h gusts and we're 170m higher.
