Slowly creeping southeast with a fair bit of development ahead of the main band, especially down over the Peninsula! Haven't heard any thunder here in Cheltenham yet, but soon no doubt! Been quite windy for the last hour or so though. Durdidwarrah which is northwest of Geelong received 18mm in less than 30 minutes from these storms.

Managed to get a glimpse of some of the storms near Gisbourne and Melton before the low misty cloud blew in from the south. Definitely a lot of rain in them, and some nice healthy inflow bands were present. Plenty of scud was being generated in front of the storms too and being sucked in.
Definitely going to be some flash flooding when these move across the Melbourne area if they don't weaken too much.

Gordon. ?
4mm in 4 mins. Did it stop.
You said slow moving r u still getting rain ?
Gentle drops here.
Yes just one cloud burst from a very small but quite slow moving cell on the radar. It was the rain rate that stood out more than the total - real firehose stuff!
Lighter rain has started again with distant thunder.
Absolute ripper of a storm cell out east of Traralgon just stalling. Will be some big totals out there. Also high cloudtops on that cell near Maryborough associated with the line of storms. Still anxiously waiting on rain for the eastern and inner metro but it sure is taking its sweet time!
EDIT// updated detailed STW skipping inner and north east
cooled off here now, missed that line of storms. low scuddy rubbish coming in from the SW with the SW wind. I am a bit with this forecast of heavy rain......shall see.
Sitting here watching the storms/rain/showers creep ever so slowly closer to the eastern burbs. Looks like the it's only 15-30 minutes away.
I would like 50mm please (garden needs a drink). Progs continue to be supportive of a good event (as does the radar)
Crazy humidity today. I like the humidity but it's not very Melbourne like having it day after day The Vic electricity consumption yesterday was a record high which tells you most people had their air conditioners blasting (and struggling to keep up). Heard people talking about their carpets becoming soggy as the evaporative air conditioners bascially split the different between the temperature and dew point leaving you with a soggy tropical house interior...

Hopefully thats not all for tonight, wasnt nearly enough rain
It's such a difficult system to read, anything could happen. So far two storm 'bands' through here, looks like a third just out to the west of Ballarat, and then yet another more conventional rain band behind that?
Normally I would expect the intial cold front to be the best chance, but we've had that through a couple of hours ago and still things going on behind it.
