Latest Access R (July 27 18z) suggests a lock in Severe weather warning for wind. All models are suggesting it could be a 8 to 12 hour gale force northerly attack for central areas.

Had 5.2mm's overnight here. MTD now 47.5mm's, need another 25mm's to reach the
monthly average, so no chance of that.
Quite pleasant outside ATM sunny with just a light to moderate westerly and 13.5c.
Nice cool day in FC today. Been quite calm, but the trees are starting to rouse outside. Very windy 24 hours coming up.
31.2C at Nullabour today so warm air headed our way, but this will get pinched by the approaching front so only the northwest and Gippsland will see the full potential. I'd watch for runs at 27C plus in these two areas. In central Vic, just mild with a nasty north wind.
Rain prospects nudging up a bit for Sunday and looks quite unstable during the day. Definitely wouldn't rule out a rumble with heavy showers about in an unstable westerly with the upper trough sharpening up. Low then to form somewhere near southern NSW which could well clip the eastern half of Vic.
Wind starting to pick up here. Not too bad so far (hope it stays that way), but we do tend to be quite sheltered despite being on top of the ridge (it's much wilder in the foot hills behind us).
Hearing reports of the odd tree down already in the general area.
Progs basically look unchanged. Gales today, late rain then showers tomorrow. Rain looks like peaking in the southwest so not expecting a lot here. Maybe 5-10mm. Thinking city will struggle with the ranges shreading the rain overnight. Showers tomorrow should add a few more mm's.
Wind has picked up here on the Island as well. Pretty much started in the early hours overnight.
We are in a pretty sheltered spot here so should be okay, just have to hope that massive gum withstands another battering.
Dreading what I'll be arriving back to late tomorrow in the western desert.
Caroline Springs, Melbourne's meteorological boredom zone.

One a serious not this weather is bad for the dry. Vic has had a crap June-July with large parts in decile 1 or less. Feels like an El Niño year but without the El Niño. The dry nwly gales which I've found are pretty common in dry years really sap what moisture there is.
Looking at progs, winds to increase through the morning, probably peaking early arvo. We are lucky things wil mix as the upper winds keep ramping up into the evening with 850hPa flow reaching 70 knots just east of the city tonight. That's get comparable to the blow last October, but the timing is not as bad so fingers crossed we won't seen that sort of damage
Wind dropped here the last hour or so. That usually happens here as the atmosphere mixes. Our strongest winds typically happen around sunrise when things can get squeezed below an inversion.
Bit of damage in the suburbs in the lee of the Dandenongs where you tend to get eddies mixing down very strong gusts.
Mildura on track for the Vic July record. 26C now and still rising
