Another 9.4mm overnight here and 28.6mm for the dates. A good boost to what was looking like a dire month. That takes us up to a more respectable 41.8mm for the month, although still need another 25mm to reach average. But YTD is 730mm, which is now above average.

24mm for the dates here (including 4cm of snow :)), and exactly 60mm mtd - still 23mm short of our average.

29.4mm in the 24 hrs to 9am locally, most of that around 5am and again around 7am.

Rain was lashing down at times, the new guttering got a good workout.

27mm for the week. 47mm MTD.

Might get a bit more next week. Probably less than 10mm.

Cold showery one up here with a bit of sleet in a couple of the showers. Max of 7.5C despite a few breaks of warm sun. Clocked up another 5mm of rain.

One last font tonight. Should be worth a few mm’s more, before it clears.

Great event for many. Did a little snow chase today and found quite a bit up around Tolmie circa 900 m. Tons of low lying snow in all directions around the high country. The mountain shot is Mt Timbertop. Buller was in cloud and snow most of the day but will look spectacular tomorrow if the cloud clears😊

Great photos Blackie. Jealous. Would have done a Yarra Ranges snow chase but not too be :( would have been awesome around Mt Saint Leonard, Upper Yarra etc. This event put down one of the better low level snow covers on a while. Was patchy, but seen full covers down to a few hundred metres, particularly tucked in on the southern foot hills of the Great Divide. Really unusual system as the 850T was around -2C at the time and the airmass became nearly isothermal under the bands which dropped snow 500-600m lower than would be expected. The snow then came out of a warm frontal feature. Have seen that type of set up in mid winter (July 1995 and August 2008 were good ones) but unusual in mid spring as solar heating usually wins out and heats the surface.

Finished on just on 8mm for the last 24 hours. Event about 40mm so pretty good, but just to much to catch up to get us to the average. MTD close to 80mm. Still one more trough on Wednesday morning so might scrape a few more mms.

October could start with a huge tropical system. EC and GFS going for a thumping system about this time next week :D

A light frost and 1 degC this morning.

Looks like a 5mm system tomorrow, and then a tropical infeed this time next week with very La-Nina Precipitable Water Totals and potential resultant deluge... Deserves its own thread soon.

WOW what a system wasnt it great, so busy last few days to be on here :D :D
So much snow to low levels in Vic and SA see the heavy snow in SA, people were sking in the Flinders in SA just crazy.
Those same places might be 35c this Friday what a turn around in a week love spring amzing event.

Friday night had a few heavy hail showers that was cool.
Saturday morning was wild here really strong winds, pouring rain near torreatial at times, hail also mixed in at times was nuts,
Wet few days as well but not as high as thought.
30mm for the weekend, about 50mm for the month.

Many are complaining its been a below average month but its been a very wet year so seriously people its not that bad
Plus Oct-Dec is going to be very wet with floods so need some drying out especially in some south and mount areas.

Weak system mid week then warm to hot Fri Sat then big rains possible Sun to Tues, La Nina hopefully start cranking. :D :D :D
Bring on the heat and stroms

Yes, the very wet Autumn contrasts with a below average Winter. Thus the crops are doing quite well in the main, regardless.

Probably the best September cold outbreak since 2003 last week. 5th Sept 1995 is hard to beat though. Snow fell as far North as Elmore that year.

Did quite well here. Almost 30mm

Next sun looks to be another one of those very slow moving, lateral rain bands with high gradients (just like a few weeks ago really).

A couple of thunderstorm events with heavy rain are showing up soon after, but I wouldn't count on those just yet given a similar pattern failed to properly materialize last time. Still, Oct is looking active.

I'm actually surprised we made it to 50mm in September. Initially it looked VERY dry. October onwards is looking WET (at this stage)

By the way, slightly off topic but the Cranbourne botanic gardens reopened today so I decided I'd do my exercise there (I'm about 1km from the back entrance).

I thought I'd visit the BoM weather station and these are the pictures from there. As the sign says, it is one of the last remaining manual official weather stations in Victoria.

As you can see, you can literally walk up to it and touch it. In fact the latch to open the Stevenson screen was unlocked, but I didn't want to be responsible for any high readings had I opened it 😊😊

Positioning is good, well away from the woods, although it is desperate need of an upgrade. Also it is in one of the highest parts of Cranbourne (at almost 90m asl). A better location might be at the race track near Ballarto Rd.

Nice pics Blackie! Just back from the Eildon area, still a heavy snow cover on Torbreck etc and Buller, the Bluff etc still plastered in snow. Streams roaring; Lake Eildon came up 5cm yesterday and is at almost 60% - much better than this time last year.

Frost this morning, so it's hard to imagine the temps forecast for the weekend!

Some interesting rainfall totals being progged for next week. EC reckons 60mm here....

No signs of mud around here, even after 28mm last week. Everything is nice and green though, and crops are filling out nicely. At this rate it's going to be a big harvest. I hope they fix the railway lines around here since grain trucks just destroy the roads etc.
