Absolutely feral winds here in Box Hill with the passage of the front. Trees bending over sideways, lights intermittently going out. A little spooky how violent it was.

Jeepers that was crazy. Wild squalls on that front. Lots of branches down and leaves everywhere. About 2mm in the gauge.

Gonna clear quickly so be lucky to get more than 5mm.

Guess time for the next thread with spring on its way :D

Yes good riddance to that front! I'll survey the damage in daylight - house seems okay though thankfully.

Spring was brief, went from 14C to 4C :o.

Yep, well said. Pure filth this afternoon. :x
The rain was the only positive from that.

Sure was wild. I could see the squall cloud approaching here as it came in, but thankfully no damage as far as I can tell. The rain was quite heavy too, but fairly brief - 3mm in total here. Made it to 17.5c today, which is our warmest day since 7th May, and plummeted to 6.5c in about half an hour with the front.

Hmm snowing lower tonight than I expected, it's snowing in Bombala, NSW, what a surprise after a day like today.

Sure was abrupt. Left a man dead and a child injured according to the news. Just seemed to come out of nowhere.

Didn't receive much rain, just a few mm.

Well that escalated quickly - was pretty wild for a short period. A massive dark grey cloud to the south shortly before heading out just after 5.30pm.

Plenty of trees down in the East including a very large tree across a road and a caravan (unoccupied thankfully) in Wonga Park.

Saw plenty of areas around Templestowe, Ringwood North, Warranwood without power while out and about.

Managed to avoid an electrical outage but internet is down. Kids won’t know what to do without Netflix, RobLoxs, YouTube,... for a day. No school, but no internet. Argh... they’ll need to engage with the real world.

Just 3.2mm here. Wife was out at the shops when it hit and took about 30 minutes to do a usual 5 minutes drive. Multiple roads closed. Wettest six months for a decade or more plus an unusual blow from the west to southwest. We rarely get big gusts here, but that was intense. Three deaths in the news :(

It really was an exceptional front - 3 deaths in different locations from falling trees tells a story, absolutely tragic :(.

I didn't see this coming - synoptics looked fairly benign. Wind must have been related to temp contrast between airmasses?

Front was pumping through at 45 knots, high pressure to the NE, warm temps. Culmination of these factors caused it.

Took a solo hike up Mt Timbertop today. It's so beautiful up there presently. The candlebarks and snow gums were lit by the reflection of the snow, still sitting well from about 1000 metres. Photos show Mt Buller with summit in cloud and The Bluff.

Our next door neighbour had a large Blackwood come down. Fortunately it fell on his property as he has massive pines on our NW side so always fearful in these winds They are huge and was watching them when those bad winds came through

We were without electricity for 22 hours. Also the NBN was affected. We can't drink the water up here. They mentioned on their web site all the suburbs in the hills except for Sassafras and Ferny Creek which was crazy cause they wouldn't give just us special water. When someone in Ferny Creek made a comment they said that they were having trouble with their website etc. We still haven't received their sms but I have been boiling the water

Great pics. My childhood home was at the base of Mt Timbertop - I've climbed it about 30 times at last count :). There's also lovely little snowplain just east of the summit towards Doherty's Road. Also Rhyolite Falls on the north face. Never get tired of that mountain; a real island in the sky.

Sorry to hear about all the destruction in the Dandenongs - the drone footage on the news of fallen trees was incredible; like a genuine cyclone had hit.
