Some fairly loud Thunder here in the last 15 minutes but only a sprinkling of Rain as its just to the East of me.
Not enough to register in my gauge but a bit further East and it would be pretty heavy.
Temp has dropped from 30c to now a humid 25/18
Thunder still rumbling away to the south of me now.
A PWS about 3kms to the ESE at Mt Clear recorded just over 8mm's from
that storm but I am sure there have been much heavier falls.
Nothing in my gauge.
Lots of thunder here and the sky has gone dark. Not sure if the storm will actually expand further or move over us, as we may be a little too far away, but areas to our north will be getting a decent drenching.
Up to 27.5c here today. Currently 24.5c and DP 16.3c.
Spot falls in the 25-40mm range just south of Ballarat. Not stopped yet, so could be some significant falls before it is done.
Tropical 25C in the Nongs with a DP in the high teens. Not enough steering for us to do well, though only takes one stubborn shower/storm to push into the sea breeze so have those fingers crossed. GFS for next week is extraordinary. Very high tides (and year after year they get higher) next week so coastal areas could get a real battering.
seems to be all happening outside the suburban zone, is it the sea breeze?
(I'm trying to understand the hows/whys)
with this current set up, is it relying on heating for convection like usual? or is the atmosphere unstable enough to not require the sun?
ie: Is it likely to continue forming storms after dark, into the night, or is it relying solely on heating and dissapear the moment the sun goes down?
We rarely seem to have night time thunderstorms anymore, most summers i recall sitting outside on humid evenings like this watching distant lightning into the night but this year its yet to happen!
Still getting Thunder here, been going since just after 3pm.
Thunder is from those cells to the NE of me.
Once again look like missing me and sliding away to my East.
Looks like a fairly unstable week coming up with the chance of a shower or storm on most days
I was just caught by an epic storm in Woodend. Thunder and biblical rainfall!
Hard to estimate how much rain but prob 30mm in about 30mins.
Nice and stormy at home at Mt Macedon, we are right on the edge of it though.
Its clear to the east of here and black as scomo's coal to the west. About 10mm here. A nice tank top- up.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m
Work- "Bolobek" at Macedon. 430m

It looks like a hell of a show! Lancefield is right on the edge.. so close, but I think it’s heading north!
