The BOM are going to look pretty bloody stupid if it doesn't rain somewhere in Melbourne today (and that includes ALL of Melbourne, not just the inner eastern suburbs).

Heavy rain currently falling over the Mt Buffalo fire grounds. Hope it keeps going for a few hours. That fire has potential to do a lot of damage, so be so good if it can get a good soaking.

Hard to pick which rain band will reach here first. Got it approaching from the north, east and south. The main circulation seems to be near Echuca.

Yes, seems to be the case. And it's pulling the main rain-band back towards the North of us.... Just can't take a trick atm.

Also, looks like a massive dump of rain near Lake Burrumbeet/Learmonth last night under that stationary cell.

Hope we don't end up in the dead zone between the two rain bands. Both cannot be over us at the same time as they have different orientations. Really happy about the rain on the fire grounds. The far east Gippsland fire still missed out so hoping that area and south coast NSW gets some as the low heads out to the Tasman.

Yes as I mentioned earlier that cell remained almost stationary in that area just west of Ballarat for more than 2 hours last night.
A PWS on the west side of the Lake reported 204mm's and another one to the north side of the Lake reported 97mm's.
Ballarat Airport just got clipped by that cell and got 20.6mm's
Most of Ballarat got nothing including me - good light show though.
Hope we get some rain today still on MTD of 20mm's here.

Down here in Brighton it feels like a fizzer is unfolding for today. Strong cool breeze. Happy to be proven wrong but the BOM might have a massive egg face by the end of the day.

It looks like things are building up now, showers are popping up quickly east, west and south of Melbourne.

I'm smack bang under the arm extending NW in the rainband in Bass Strait.

Pouring down, radar looking a little better too.

Yep, was about to say the same thing Adam. I have a awesome view of the development out my south facing window here at work (really must learn how to post pictures).

We did have an easier method direct in the forum, but it became non-compatible when we upgraded (we're working on bringing this back). Best way for now is to upload via attachments when replying or via an image host service such as https://imgbb.com/.
