Well not today at least. :P
It will need a lot more than 1 decent event in 9 years for it to lose it's title. ;)

Smoke haze has somewhat returned here as the final band of rain approaches from the west. :?

Has literally not stopped raining since the storm first made landfall.

It was clearing us according to the radar, but it kept going and going... wasn't expecting it to morph into such a large patch of rain.

Another band forming in behind it, though whether it has the steam to keep going, I don't know, but I wouldn't count it out. We may end up with a nighttime show :D

Mansfield has just recorded 52mm in 40 minutes. RR of 230mm p/h at 7pm! Gullies are flooding in Howes Creek on Lake Eildon. One of the heaviest falls since 2011 la Nina event. Still raining.

Scraped out 17mm in the end. Three hours of steady rain with constant rumbles. Thick fog drifting in and out. Very odd weather to be honest. MTD near 70mm.

Locally the area around Monbulk scored about 70mm, while elsewhere falls vary from near 10mm south of here to scattered 25-30mm falls quite randomly distributed. All handy, but so hit and miss.

Incoming doesn’t look to exciting. Showers and storms east tomorrow, and in central areas as the winds go swly. Wouldn’t be surprised if this gives thick drizzle for a period in the morning.

51mm all up. Had some great close range CG lightning in that last band and some loud cracks of thunder, though rain wasn’t quite as heavy as earlier today. Can’t remember the last time we had as much thunder as we’ve had this afternoon. Thick fog has rolled in. It might also be mixed in with some smoke, but if it is I can’t smell it.

you have to go back to Mon 10/04/2017 to get a higher single daily total for Avalon from today's 49.4mm

That's quite an assumption to say summer will be until May. My tip is it'll be over by 15 February :D

The 77mm in St Albans seems to be the highest metro total (a western suburb, can you believe it? lol)

Incredible range of totals, but at least most of the metro got something.

18mm at Mt Macedon.
Totally over the moon with that.
YTD is around 50mm already.
So much better than last year.

I feel like falling to my knees, weeping and gnashing my teeth, ripping my hair out.

I'm first week on holidays in WA. Home is Portarlington on the Bellarine. I cannot believe I missed that storm today.
I am seething!!!!!!!!

Super thick fog here this morning and heavy drizzle. 18.4mm in the gauge. Gotta be a good chance to crack 20mm from here. Pretty unlucky here in the end as we would have got double that if the development had of occurred 5km north/south/east or west. I do wonder if the radar was missing a fair bit of the detail on the storms and totals are so lumpy. Still MTD is just on 70mm and only 6mm to the average. Very happy with how the month is tracking :D

BTW did not get much commentary but those maxima yesterday were pretty ridiculous. 37-39C despite the shocking smoke and high dew points. On so many levels this weather is just getting silly. I do wonder if yesterday is the hottest-wettest day on record for Melbourne. Probably not, but has got to be up there :?:

Showers/storms today focussing out east. Hopefully the fire grounds can get more.

We got 18mm in the end after missing the first part of the storms. So good result and everything is nice and wet again. We are still green here mostly.

NE and East Gippsland missed out which is a real shame. Hopefully today delivers in those locations and start to put out fire and reduce the source of the smoke.
