1.2mm overnight to open the December account. Currently 7c here. Looking at the animated Satpic, the effect of the LWT is clearly visible!

Launceston record December low max temp is 14.3 on 2/12/2001. That record is in danger today.

These winter like conditions are a bit of a shock to the system after spending the past two days in hazy warm Sydney. Talk about two different extremes! :o
Saw a few fires from the air on the way up Friday, including the one near Canberra HB mentioned a few days ago. It's certainly a very sad state of affairs up north.

Meanwhile back here, the showery wet conditions continue with the latest front pushing through 15 minutes ago.

Well it's only made it to 14.0c for a max so far today. December Low Max record is 14.1c at the current site (27th Dec 1993). At old prison site it was 12.9c on 1st Dec 1969.

3mm today.

7 day forecast for Melbourne looks like a late September forecast instead of an early December

Wintry one here today with showers and then arvo fog. Max of 10.8C. We’ve had 8C here on Christmas Day 2006 when it also snowed, so no where near a record, but still more like the start of spring than summer :D

Managed to split the showers on the first band, so just 3.6mm so far. There are spot falls to around 15mm about 5km south of here, so a bit unlucky.

The next 24 hours should really add up. Would typically expected about 30mm, though the details matter a lot. Showers will come I streets and really add up if your under them.

Btw decent snow in the alps. Looks like about 5cm already at Falls :D

Have notched up 10.2mm so far, maybe a little more to follow. A few rumbles about 30 minutes ago with heavy rain as well as another time during the afternoon, thankfully made to both ways from the nursing home dry.

Pressure here currently 995.7 and slowly dropping. Temp 10 / 8.5 so would not be surprised to see fog at 0500 tomorrow. Wind is calm atm.

What a great start to summer (IMO lol). Bit disappointed the city hit 16.8 as opposed to maxing out at 15, because it's quite funny going from 41 temps to the mid teens. I just wish some stormy troughs would start emerging in the synoptics. Still hanging out for a good storm :(

Falls Creek this morning. Not often the mainland gets a summer snowfall like this and it's still coming down!

Just over 5mm in the gauge this morning. Wintery, but rain is pretty disappointing - funny how hit and miss the showery stuff can be at times. Hoping to pick up a decent fall as the flow goes more southerly through today. Pressure was on 992 hPa when I left home so definitely one of the stronger systems. Tides running well up on the coast - getting very close to the point on Port Phillip Bay where it starts to hit the back fences and go over the bike paths around the lower parts of the Bay.

Great system for the eastern ranges.

Thought you might! Raining and 4C here 250 metres lower; easy to imagine snow not far above.
