Up to about 25C and some quick thunderstorm showers on the way through Gippsland today to the NSW South Coast - one between Stratford/Bairnsdale and a few light showers around Buchan.

Was very windy on arrival in Pambula Beach earlier but the wind has settled down to be replaced by some light rain for the past 10 mins.

Looked to be clearing then went bang. Just scored another quick 6mm. Event up to a rather more healthy 11mm. If my memory serves me correct that puts us about 1mm off our monthly. Geez we’ve got lucky out our way, scoring related hits in the past five months.

Very handy 16mm in the gauge and a min of 4C this morning in FC. That means we’re are on 129mm MTD and just had our fifth month above average (about 5mm above average). That’s a remarkable run by the standards of recent decades :D We’ve been so lucky :o

Today will mainly see showers out west as the next trough moves up. This one has quite chilly uppers so unstable for areas west of about Geelong.

Btw check out the photos from the Snowy Mountains yesterday when the big dust storm went through and the aftermath with brown snow. That will see the snow melt quickly as it decreases the albedo and heats it from above.

A cold start this morning - just 1c and light frost.

Only 1mm in rain gauge which is disappointing. And struggling to see any more rain this month 🙁

Quite a few crops up North are now being cut for hay to salvage something out of them...

Frost here this morning with a min of 2C.
Trentham had -2C.
Quite a good effort for the first post-equinox morning.
Hope we get a cold, wet spring.

3mm overnight in FC. Might get a shower or two more today, then a shower on Thursday. After that Progs look increasingly hot and dry.

Quite cold uppers over us today so snow in the alps.

A sneaky 4 mm overnight which was very welcome.

But nothing expected in the next 10 days...

Disappointing weekend rainfall wise here... just a few light showers and a lot of wind. I had to water the garden yesterday due to the winds sucking the moisture out of the soil.

Like you HB, we seem to be constantly escaping the hot, dry conditions which have been threatened for several months (no complaints) so I'll believe it when I see it! I guess eventually, such forecasts will prove correct based on sheer weight of statistical probability :?

Meanwhile, we're running about average for Sept temps, and 12mm for the dates brings us to 60 mm mtd - short of our Sept average but well ahead of ytd average.

1.6mm in the gauge this morning. Showers were quite sparse, but managed to pick up one decent one.

Maybe a shower today and another on Thursday into Friday. Otherwise, not much to excite.

The IOD is approaching record levels so the climate is really working against rain for most of OZ atm.

Btw the 6am temperature in Melbourne on Saturday with 22C was an equal record, so up there. Change coming in just before 9am stopped us getting the overnight record.

Was a bit surprised to find frost on the car at 6am this morning in Pambula Beach, as we're about 2m above sea level!

Turned into a nice sunny 17C day after some rain yesterday afternoon with some small cells moving through from the ranges to the WSW out to the ocean.

Noticing, things still damp,
Puddles of water still visible from the weekend,
Sure this won't last much longer.

GFS is suggesting SAM will swing to -3 within a few days around 10 October. (its currently +1).

Another bitter, sunless day here yesterday - felt more like July than September. Today doesn't look much warmer, with the current temp 7C.

Looks like we'll have to wait until October for our first 20C day of spring.

Day temps are running near or a touch above average so pretty typical for September. Mainly swly weather, though, which makes it feel cooler.

Sadly, another really dry month for most of OZ and the dry is edging into Vic. We’ve been lucky so far, but Progs not really holding a lot of rain. Struggling to find the next thread :( (waiting for the Spring Storms thread ;) ).

We should get one more chance to top up September’s total with a front tomorrow. It’s quite strong, but slipping mainly through Bass Strait. Could be locally 10mm in the upper Yarra and South Gippsland but thinking not much for most of us.

A cool bright sunny morning here with hardly any wind. Would of been a perfect day on the bike, however need the car as I have to travel into the city later to collect GF tickets. :D

Looks like the annual watering season will soon kick off as there is nothing at all in the outlook rain wise. :(

Yes it’s looking fairly dry for a while ahead. We haven’t been quite as lucky as some others for rain this month. We’re currently sitting on 43mm, so it will be a below average month here, although not too bad overall after the above average month in August. Down to 2c overnight, so quite a chilly start to the day!

Think of it this way, the worse the weather that you have, the longer Vic can stave of bush fire season! Your suffering won't go unnoticed :D
