Sounds like all is reasonably well at the moment, Fukushima plant is ok, workers have evacuated to a stronghold within the plant. 1 metre waves felt in Myagi prefecture, less than that in other areas, but these are the initial waves, some larger ones may be on their way.

This from my brother heading home from work in Tokyo:

"Was very very long, but not strong here like last year. Thank goodness! On train now. Hoping no aftershocks tonight."

Mark Willacy ABC correspondent tweeting up to date info:

Japan Meteorological Agency now saying this was an aftershock of last year's quake. There have been further quakes this evening in the 5-6 magnitude.

My brother again:

"...everything was like March 11 last year, just in miniature. Almost same place, same starting soft, then dying down, but then coming back to kick your arse. Ugh! "

Thanks RG ;) All good :D He is concerned about where it happened though:

"Actually, got woken up by a quake this morning. Little one, across the bay. Stuff still moving about, but not the in right places, unfortunately. I would have preferred today's one to be further south (which would have meant somewhat worse here, but that releases pressure - we don't need any more movements north because violets down south is still not budging. Scares the crap out of me actually...). But today's was not extremely bad. Just long, which is what got most people worried I guess."

That is worrying Lily. Things that we don't really hear about but if you live there you know when it's not the norm. Sure hope it will be OK
