Look at these temps around Victoria. I thought my weather station was broken until i got in the car and my gauge is reading 8.0c, under partly cloudy skies. This is graupel weather under some precipitation...if it makes it here. Will be some surprising snowfalls i think to low elevations. It has that feel to it

Real cold stuff has gone through Warrnambool. It dipped to 4c there a little while ago.

Edit#
I just checked the radar and its still yet to arrive but looks on track.
Must have been a stray dark blob that went past about 15mins ago.
Mostly sunny here in macedon. Breezy but not strong.

Any suggestions as to why it's breaking up as it heads into the metro area? It's been doing it for 12 hours and it's annoying

Surface winds are still NW to W in Melbourne and not SW so we have a subsidence effect from the Otways and ranges to the west. Someone mentioned it is doing a right turn at the coast and that's how it looks right now. Saw this last year and often occurs and the really cold system cyclonically turn the stream westerly. It will go SW eventually.

Driving around Ballarat between 11.30 and 12.30pm doing some errands.
Cold Rain started falling and the temp on the outside car thermo dropped to 3c.
Rain turned splattery on the windscreen (ice crtystals in it) another one degree
lower and it would have been snowing.

Still only 6c here and a strong, gusty wind. Had a gust of 53km/h a short while ago. A few light showers have passed through over the last couple of hours. Will be interesting to see how low the temp dips if we get some heavier stuff, so maybe the possibility of graupel or sleet later on today or tonight.

6 degrees here now with that rainband that's coming through with blobby rain. I'd be surprised if mt Dandenong, at least, doesn't get snow later on or tonight

Snowing off and on all day here; virtually the only precipitation has been snow.

However we aren't getting the solid duration we had on Monday so it can't quite settle. We need a longer-lasting band of heavier stuff; maybe what's crossing Cape Otway now?
