Finished the month with only 48.6mm, which is quite a bit lower than the average for around here. But probably not too bad a total given the setup for much of the month, with the persistent westerly flow releasing most of the rain to our north and west. 2.3mm overnight and some scattered cloud around this morning. I'm really hoping that spring isn't quite as dry as predicted, but a possible positive IOD/El Nino combination would be running against us somewhat. YTD here is not too bad overall, currently sitting on 463mm. But it's well down on last year, which was 614mm January to August.

Finished the month with 15mm of rain and 10 of that came last night, Im living in a coastal desert.
Kangaroos are eating the nature strips, rabbits the vegie patch, foxes the chooks, dead barn owls everywhere, all that is missing is a mice plague and Ive got the perfect little piece if australia.
The rainfall map even had a little tail on it over my house, 5k either side average, here drought.
Glenmaggie is abt 17% so will take all the snow melt.

Well below average here. Very disappointing indeed. Looks like I'll have to move to a mountain if I ever want to see consistent rainfall ever again.

Hopefully spring delivers some decent rain.

Good drop in Horsham Saturday afternoon, something I haven’t witnessed for a long time while visiting.

1mm more here for the last 24 hours. Fairdinkum, how do you only get 1mm from a strongish front in the first week or September in the Dandenongs :grumpy: :bigmouth:

Cold here this morning, just dipped below 3C with the odd spitty shower. Going to be the pattern for the day.

Week ahead looks boring, with a nwly to wstly front Wednesday into Thursday. It’s probably more cloud and wind, than rain.

Very white frost here this morning. Castlemaine ended up with 66.6 mms, very close to average.

Maybe spring will bring more, maybe not, hopefully the heat will not come too quick.

Cold overnight here - down to 2.1c. Currently 5.4c. Just had a brief shower pass through and looks like there might be the occasional one today, but unlikely to add up to much. 4.9mm yesterday, making it 7.2mm MTD.

Wondered if you might be getting some snow given the temperature this morning.

August 2018 ended up slightly cooler than average in both Min and Max temps, with just above average rainfall. The negative SAM for much of the month delivered here. But go 50km North and it's looking rather dire at present.

Another good frost here this morning.

Rainfall for Bacchus Marsh this winter was quite poor! According to the 2 close by Melbourne Water
gauges, Darley (2km north) 78mm and Parwan (3km south) 64mm total winter rainfall.

It snowed on and off this morning but no accumulation. Freezing cold spring day.

7.1C for a max with frequent showers, but mainly spitty so just 1mm in the gauge. One was briefly heavy with a bit of hail, which I wasn’t expecting.

Not much in the progs now. Windy mid week, but front slipping away :(

Hopefully it changes, but current models have unusual warmth come next week :? with 850Ts into the teens.

Jasmine, August 1982 was truely awful :o This year currently reminds me more of 1994 or 2002 with the dry creeping.

Looks quite warm this time next week, but back to the low/mid-teens very quickly. It is September I suppose.

Interesting to note that Canberra had its driest winter since 1982. Sydney's driest since 1995.

Heard some obscure stat on the radio about this being the coldest start to September in a few decades - apologies for the vagueness!

Does seem to have been an unusually cold few days though, looking forward to a little less of that for the next few days.

Just extending the thread for a few more days.

Starting to look more volatile on Thursday. Total totals above 50 through central areas, there might be a spark or 2 followed by a band of rain :)
