Lancefield sits at 500m so fingers crossed for some snow flurries.
I remember a day back around 1993 when there was 2 inches of snow between Gisborne and Woodend (Driving faster than walking pace had you off the road). Woodend to Lancefield was all white with the only black being tree trunks, fence posts and the road. Never seen anything close to it since.
Wow, didn't know that! I've heard a few people talk about some interesting snow events around the area in the past. As JS mentioned previously, this event has got some similarities to one in 2007. I wasn't living here at the time, but I remember Woodend was a completely blanketed with snow.
Otways are shredding everything coming towards the peninsula with the west southwesterly flow. Looks intense elsewhere. Extremely jealous! We've been in blue sky most of the day!

Showery day up here with hail accumulating to a patchy cover a couple of times. 3mm to add to the 7mm overnight.
Looks like a cold wet 24 hours coming up. Not totally confident about snow. We should get some, but the uppers are only just cold enough so could fizz or turn out quite well. Lots of showers so precip won’t be an issue. Temperature down to 3.7C here now so chilling nicely. The freezing level looks to be about 900 to 1000m atm, with snow falling to about 700m so not a lot about my head here Had reports from around Trentham and quite low on Donna Buang so creeping down the hills
Yeah looks to be snowing to about 700m. Saw a video of what looks like proper snow at Lyonville (near Trentham/Daylesford). Thinking Dandenong's will do well with the more southerly fetch overnight/tomorrow and likely about cold enough.
Down to 3C here now with showers inbound. About cold enough now for snow here, if the showers are heavy enough.
Here a photo from this arvo at Olinda. It looks like graupel mainly (sago snow). Fine a very white, and tends to stick well to surface as it’s lighter and doesn’t bounce much.
