VIC - Front with gales and showers: July 23-26 2018

A bit breezy here but nothing of note. Rain still falling and getting close to 10mm. Handy.

Around 4mm here this evening, but only a few kilometres north the totals are over 10mm. Macedon Ranges overall appears to have done well today. Still very windy and temp has climbed slightly to 6.6c. Looks like there won’t be much more rain tonight judging by the radar. Ranges to the north of Melbourne apppear to be doing OK at the moment.

I'm currently up in Sydney for work, flight up was delayed earlier this evening due to the absolutely disgusting wind.
Thank God I'm out of that windy dump, even if it's only for 24 hours.

Wild windy night here, but only 0.4mm in the gauge. Macedon rainshield about as strong as it gets Rain really focussed on the northern slopes west of Melbourne. Good to see some sneak into the Mallee and Wimmera.

Fairly strong front for this arvo which looks better for general rain. 5-10mm, with upto 20mm in the usual wet spots.

Looks like this pattern of repeated westerly gales with fronts is going to continue in the week ahead. It’s a pretty classical El Niño signature, eve; if we don’t have a classic El Niño

10mm for part 1 here. Wind gusts were around 60 to 70 km/h. Probably more of the same for part 2.

higher totals earlier then lowered them.

Some early indications that next week could be cold and wet too. GFS has a ripper of a cold front around 1st August.

Great result, much needed up there. 8.5mm here which is handy. As expected, 15-20mm just a few km northwest.

It's your classic 'clipper' cold front. We hit the jackpot last night, but I'm only expecting a mm or two here this afternoon/evening.

This afternoon's forecast models are looking very wintry at the end of July into early August. The barrage of fronts looks like it'll continue....

Agree, I cycled home from nursing home arriving about 5 minutes before it hit, had 7.4mm in no time at all, now sitting on 9.0mm with light rain still falling, relative light wind compared to the passage of the squall line.
