They always seem to estimate the change far too late. In the heat 2 weeks ago they were about 2 hours out as well.

Avalon has lost their lead in the temperature stakes too, 42.5 at Hopetoun!
Is that the cool change in Geelong or merely a seabreeze? I hope it IS the cool change, even though I'm a while off getting it.

Frankstonians have been on 30 degrees the whole morning, lucky them.

Wind change is very shallow and may stall between geelong and melb, I hope not.

I see the ever reliable Laverton radar is down again.

Wow sorry for looking ahead but the red "heat" line on the latest ACCESS-G chart for Saturday 27/1 stretches as far as 200 km south of Hobart!!!

Change is looking like coming through here at about 6-6.30 I think. It looks like we might remain in the 30's for the foreseeable future too. Certainly looking like a classic, hot Aussie summer this year! :D

BOM Cool change predictions here (thanks for pointing this site out JS!): https://twitter.com/BOM_Vic

Change is running half an hour to an hour ahead of schedule. Through Geelong at midday and due in Melbourne (city) by 3pm. Not due here til after 7pm though :(.

Also, has these interesting stats about consecutive 40C days:
"When considering consecutive days 40°C or higher for #Melbourne, this occurs on average 1 in 5 years. Last time, 8-9 Feb 2014 at the old site & 4 in a row 14-17 Jan 2014 at both Olympic Pk & the old site #heatwave Longest spell: 5 in a row 16-20 Jan 1908."

Yesterday and today are not as exceptional as I remembered.

The 2014 event was extraordinary. 4 days over 40 and I think 43 was reached widely on 3 of those days

Just about to crack 30C at my place.
Yesterday i made it to 31C at home on the mountain and almost 37C at work here in Macedon.
I just got back from a quick trip to Riddells Creek. It was much hotter there.

21C for me overnight. Very warm for Mt Macedon.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m

Didn't quite get to the 40 mark yesterday but passed it today just after 2pm in a late run.

Just reached 40c here. Horrid day outside. Looks like the change won't be filtering its way through here until around 5pm.

40.9 here currently. Change has gone through Cerberus, 25km away, so must be close...

I can't believe how many stations are reading 47 in the north west. There is one over the border near Morgan reading 48. Makes me happy being coastal. Made it to a top of 41 today, now currently 33.

Interesting that Melbourne has only dropped 5c in half an hour. The trough is as weak as a wet tram ticket.

Sitting on 39c and still going up, hope the change sneaks over the range but I'm starting to wonder.

45c now breached in the Mallee and Wimmera.
