Just 4.5mm's in the last 24 hours making it 8.5mm's for the event. So nothing to write home about.
Just 14.9mm's so far this month lets hope a good storm later can boost my monthly total a bit.

Line of Showers/storms approaching the outer northern suburbs, if they make it over the ranges and into suburbia then today could be one of those "rare" events where the CBD and surrounds lie under a training region of storms. My head tells me today could be a BIG one for the Melbourne CBD. :o

Couple of massive drops just fell on the roof here at work. Nothing on the radar in this area yet. :?

Any experts on here wishing to give a forecast at short notice?

Looks lovely on radar with rapid development, and it's only 11am.

Could today be one of those memorable events?

multiple cells developing. I think it's been a while since we've seen a storm outbreak come from the north-EAST? usually it's from the northwest

Only just starting to ease here. Amazing stuff, we had everything but hail. Lighting, thunder & torrential rain.

Loudest thunder I have heard in a long time, heavy rain for bout 3 minutes. Surrounded by black clouds, most of the severe stuff has just missed me here in Tarneit.

Very frustrating to say the least with storms developing just to my south. In fact 1 to 2 kilometres. I guess the benefit is the amazing view it is giving me with clear skies here.

Constant thunder.

Really hoping that shield that you mention Dan breaks down and gets something going.

TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST

Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Melbourne Area
for HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES
For people in Mornington Peninsula and parts of Western Port Local Warning Areas.

Issued at 1:55 pm Friday, 17 November 2017.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Hastings, Rosebud, the area east of Neerim and the area east of Inverloch.
They are forecast to affect Flinders, Phillip Island and Rhyll by 2:25 pm.
Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks.
* Be alert that in areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
* Stay indoors if possible.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* If you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
* Listen to the radio for storm updates
* Switch off your computer and electrical appliances

The next warning is due to be issued by 2:55 pm.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Central, East Gippsland, North East, West and South Gippsland and parts of the South West, Northern Country and North Central districts.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 217. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
