I made it to -2.5C which is impressive for my mountain top location. Solid white out there and my new frog pond is frozen over.
-2.5 is about the second or third coldest ive recorded here in 14years.

I see a -6 at Trentham and -4.5 near Seymour.
There is another Netatmo PWS down at the bottom of the mountain here that is on -3C.
What did Melbourne get down to?

Yay! Slight frost on the front lawn this morning, got down to 1.2C around sunrise, our coldest for several years! No dry soils around here atm, thick, wet mud everywhere. :)
Looks like 1.1C was the CBD minimum, so pretty spot on re the forecast.

-2.1 as we speak on my weather station which is in a meter box and I have observed to be about 2 degrees over the true temperature at night. Incredible! Everything is glistening and white. We've had plenty of cold nights here this winter but this tops it off. Reminds me of the height of the drought in the mid-2000s, we would have cold nights in winter like this and warm (by winter standards) days and not that much rain.

White everywhere here this morning, looks like a light dusting of snow over the stones in the garden. Got down to -0.5c. Some amazing temperatures around the region and up in NSW/ACT.

Interesting how on the coldest of nights Cranbourne West is nearly always colder than Cranbourne East. I have noticed this quite often when leaving my parents house over there. On the drive home the temperature usually falls by 2 or 3 degrees as soon as i pass the centre of Cranbourne.

-1.7 official minimum here.

Already down to 1degC. Frost already forming....

Rutherglen is pushing the envelope where it's already -3c at 8pm! How low will it go?

Just hit zero here. Models suggest that it will plateau after midnight but it's certainly getting icy quickly again.

Lots of ice damage in the region this morning. Especially pipes and solar hot water systems. Couldn't use water until about 10.30am here. It was a brutal frost. Apparently the diesel fuel lines froze up at the servo as well.

Already 1.1 in Templestowe, I think it's going to be a lot colder than last night! Not sure about the CBD though.

Another -5c, now rocketed back up to -4c. It's not as widespread up here today though looking at the PWS obs. Glenluce near Castlemaine is currently -6c.

Some impressive numbers this morning in pockets. Avalon coldest July night on record (though digital record is only 20 years). Sites like Moorabbin and Viewbank pretty consist with a once every few years frost night :o

But... darn wind all night up here in Ferny Creek, quite gust at time has seen us fail to dip below 4C. Shame that wind doesn't mix down to the flats and send some of the -1c air rushing up the hill :D

Just a quick list of records or significant numbers at long run sites.

Deniliquin (-5.6) and West Wyalong (-5.1) annual records and a July record at Rutherglen. Canberra's -8.7 was the lowest at the airport since 1971 (although there was a -8.8 at the city site in 1982).

Here's the rainfall map which basically summarises this thread. There is a pretty good match between very coldest temperatures and the reddest of the reds :?

Somehow it was even colder here overnight than Friday night. -4.9 officially but my thermometer reached -3.2 (as I mentioned overreading by about 2 degrees at night), that would have to be in our lowest 5 nights of all time, the all time record was -5.6 in July 1965 but I also can see a -5.0 in June 1965.

edit: Thanks to BOM Victoria's Twitter, it hit -5.0 on July 17 1982 and it's our coldest since then.

Even colder here than yesterday morning. I recorded a Min of -1.7c
This is a new record low for me breaking the old record of -1.2c set on 20-8-2003.
My records only started in 2002 at my site in Cranbourne. :D

Only -0.6 here last night but enough to top up the frost that didnt melt from yesterday morning, my shadowed lawns and gardens are still covered in a thick white coat of ice.
