12.6mm so far for us today. I have been watching the heaviest rain go to our north and west all day, so I'm not surprised to hear 30mm so far in Kyneton. These areas have really been needing a decent amount of rain. Wind is starting to get wild here now with on and off showers. We have been on the edge of the wrap around for much of the day. Had a steady period of rain last this afternoon. Currently 8c. Feeling very wintry.

Drizzle and fog here but not much wind yet. Just shy of 30mm so adding up nicely.

That wrap around will slowly edge east as the developing low in eastern Bass Strait takes over. Won't be as persistent as it move east, but should still give a nice top up.

Pilling up our west. Perhaps lucky it's been a dry few weeks leading into this :?

@Macedonian, I think you may get some freezing rain tonight along with Blue Mountain.
I drove to Daylesford and back earlier JasmineStorm, it was 5C and a bit splattery/icy precip on the windscreen around Lyonville. Very windy and difficult driving.

My neck of the woods (Mornington Peninsula) has completely missed out on this one, watching it spin around everywhere except here is painful to watch!

Good storm yesterday making up for it though, hopefully we get a few drops later tonight? Feels about 6degrees outside and not a breath of wind.

Getting smashed by the wrap-around now. Horizontal rain... Approaching 20mm for event which is much more than expected.

Interestingly, EC has another good system for us around 18th April.

She's starting crank now......had a gust around 80 km/h, belting down and on 37mm and climbing fast. Musk (near Daylesford) now on 60mm.

Up to 50mm here and lots more to come, amazing! Exceeded our April average of 48.6mm (our second driest month - usually!)

Up to 15.5 mm here now with frequent heavy showers. The temperature has gone up a couple of degrees - currently 9.2c which is perhaps not unexpected as the low heads northward and the wind fetch not as far south. Certainly wild out there!

PS: Really interesting to go back to the start of this thread, which JS opened for what looked like a boring period of high pressure - and it did back then. Subsequently, the first sniffs of something; models tentatively off then on - some eerily accurate for a run or two (though they seemed outlandish at that time). Fascinating - and worth remembering next time a period of boring weather appears with no apparent end in sight.

50mm here today and now 7 degrees, plenty more rain to come by the looks of the radar. Intense wind from the south today as well, good day to be inside.

I took a screenshot, just because it's an image we hardly ever see, western side of Melbourne getting smashed while the east is dry and calm.

Would be so frustrating in Geelong right now, they're just being grazed.

Frustrating here, too. Seems like every system has grazed or clipped us for the past two years. Surviving on bloody scraps!

Not too bothered tonight, though, knowing the west is copping it. If here is frustrating, can't imagine how frustrating it would be there sometimes.

Anyway, real fresh bite in the air tonight. Actually felt like winter today, after what was a very warm, late spring type of day the day before. Melbourne weather... Love it, hate it

Great idea Geoff, that image pretty much says it all. Out here we're in uncharted territory now for April - closing in on 60mm at my place and I know sites nearby are more like 70-80mm. Could be a place or two under that band which will end up with 100mm plus in 24 hours, which will be unheard of for April in this area.

(I'd be enjoying it even more if it wasn't for this savage wind!)

Near 50mm now here. I think she is stalling over the bay...... the Melbourne OP ob should have swung to the SW by now. With this insane feed, she is turning into a water bomb sitting on the bay.
