Nice shots Q-Twister.

I was watching the obs all late yesterday afternoon, waiting for something to explode over the bay as those icy uppers levels came in. It didn't disappoint :) with a bit of 'bay effect' to top it off.

Air frost here this morning, right on 0. A more boring type of ice on the ground.

Well picked JS, some of your calls have been outstanding!

Omg Twister, what a pic, looks fantastic. It must have been 10+ years since I've seen hail like that, if ever. Just looks stunning.

Amazing pics & reports!

Scraped another mm here to bring us to 24.5mm for the month. Nothing spectacular (unlike some!) but a start.

Wow, those photos are stunning. Shame it missed here by about 5km :( We got a storm like that in the Dandenong back in about 2012. The hail was about 5cm deep on flat ground, and double or more that where water pushed it into piles. Shame we don't get more of them ;)

5.2mm in the gauge for us. EC had 5mm so nailed it. Good to see the northeast burbs and Yarra Valley catch up yesterday after a bit of a miss on Tuesday (friend near Healsville saw just 12mm for the "weekend" but should have doubled that or more last night).

3.9C for a minimum with spitty showers and fog this morning. Wood fire is back on (giving a chance to burn off those branches ahead of the summer fire season).

Should see the odd shower next three days. Our event total is ~55mm so a good start to November.

Awesome pics Twister. :D

Unfortunately some of us will never get to exerience a decent cold storm like that, especially out here in the boredom zone. :(
Still managed to cop a massive downpour right on 4pm yesterday which delayed my planned exit from work.
It's was certainly a wonderful way to cap off an amazing 48 hours of rainfall for some of us.

Now attention turns to a rather uneventful week of steady conditions.

I'm a bit worried the overnight frost in much of inland Vic may have done some damage to what was left of winter crops. Not good.

Had heard some significant concern ahead of last night. The positive IOD/El Nino springs are nasty as the sunny and dry days bring the crops forwards, and then we get the harsh frosts with the inevitable spring cold outbreaks. Apparently frosts can also be bad for horticulture and vines at this time of year.

That firecracker lightening and thunder,
Hit a tree 2 doors away.. bark missing and spread all over the place.

Had a minimum of 5.2 degrees here last night on the manual gauge and 5.5 on the Davis.

Chilly indeed for this time of year

Got a photo? We had lightning hit a big gum tree in our garden about four years ago. Blew the bark off the tree to a depth of about 5cm from about 20 metres up to the ground. Tree has never been the same since, so clear it fried a lot of the sap wood. Some of the wood splinters were near 30cm and thrown 20-30m. The power was unbelieverable.

Another 0.2mm overnight here. Quite decent upper trough today. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was the odd stray heavier shower.

EC and GFS showing another thundery system for early next week. Could be the first time we’ve had back to back events in ages if that comes off :D Almost time for the new thread. Still need about 400mm here to catch up to average for year to date so fingers crossed we close that gap further...

Picked up a mm from that band of showers. Poured down for about 1 minute, then spat for the next hour or so :?

Guess that's probably it for the event. Just over 60mm. Good start to November, and hopefully next week now delivers the follow-up. Just about new thread time :D

Here we are stuck on 1mm for the event! Having said that, its awesome there were fairly widespread good falls. As others have said, pushes back the fire danger for a bit.

Ok, this coming week needs a new thread.

The cool weather over the past few days has been nice. Warming up now before the next Spring-like cold front.
