But creeping ever so tantalisingly slowly Macedonian, it's almost been painful to watch these past few % going upwards lol! They were testing the spillway gates yesterday, one at a time, to check on the gate's capabilities since the upgrade a few years back (it's the first chance they've had as the water hasn't been high enough before now). So rather than a "spill" it was more of a little splurge as the gates were only opened 600mm. There are several ways the Lake can spill, the spillway and gates being only one option. Most likely, any excess water will traverse downstream via the hydro... Lots more info & photos on this on the lakeeildon.com forum :)

I bet it was wonderful Rivergirl, take some photos for us. I organised a window seat for my flight to syd last week but it was cloudy and i couldnt see the lake.
It is just great knowing that our water storages are almost all full .

I see they started to let the poor Snowy River have some water back the other day, out of Lake Jindabyne, good for those downstream of the dam.

Isn't it amazing what 12 odd months and some rainfall can do? I'm still gobsmacked at how rapidly it's risen, from 40 & 50% (which I thought was good lol!) to now virtually 100% a year later

It is indeed amazing. Does anyone recall the water authorities droning on and on like cracked records saying that it would take "Years and years and years of above average rainfall" for our storages to recover from the drought? Well, they were wrong werent they! That numpty Tim Holding, or whoever it was, was always banging on about it.Two good seasons is all that it took.

Yes M I remember those words being uttered by many a couple of years back. Still can't believe we're in this very positive water situation that we are.

Back down to 99.85% now, so I presume they're releasing water today?

This last little bit is just dragging on and on...if the catchment can get 10mm overnight then you'd think Wed/Thurs would be right. The rainband tracking from the NW at the moment could be just a little too north for the lake to benefit from that lot.
