The POMC has updated its webcam coverage. It has merged all port cams into one page. A couple have gone but a couple of new ones have popped up to replace them.
All cams are now user controllable. No registration required, you get 1.30 min a go and if no one else is waiting, you can control the cam for ever. The usual features, tilt, pan, zoom, about 180 degrees coveragre laterally and from your feet to about 30 degrees above the horizon.
Fawkner Beacon has its own cam now! Its a ripper. I hope they can maintain it because the FB AWS has the unenviable reputation of going off line whenever the wind blows. maybe it gets submerged, who knows!
Station Pier has its own cam now too. The bay is well covered for storms now, We can also see out past the heads and to the north east of melb and a bit of the north west.
All cams are some form of high definition and stream really well, although they time out too quickly and you have to refresh the page. There is another problem, control of the cam is limited to a maximum of 10 in the queue, so if you really want to see something that is not showing, you would have to keep clicking like you were trying to buy tickets to Pink.
