Date Fished: 8/1/2010 (11am to 2pm)
Location: Portland

Launched off Portland and headed towards the North Shore. There were whispers of Kingfish, King George Whiting and the odd Snapper being caught in about 9m of water. Conditions were great, a cool seabreeze and a rolling 1m swell. We used a variety of baits, Squid, Pippies & whole pilchards. We also bought a bag of burley to stimulate the suckers!!! :D

Spent a good 90 minutes without too much luck. Picked up a number of Ras to about 28cm but didn't bag them. One however attracted a squid which released about 5m from the boat! :x

By now the northerlies had won over the seabreeze and things were starting to chop up. We came into shore for some protection, sitting on a sandy area in 5m of water. We were hoping to pick up the odd flathead or even King George lurking around on the slack tide.

I picked up an undersized Red Mullet as well as half a dozen more Ras. Got a very big bite which took plenty of my line. Spent a good 10mins reeling the sucker in until my line snapped! Plenty of school fish around taking our Pippies.

We decided to head back in after 3 hours, 20 odd fish (all thrown back) and a couple of beers. Great to be out on the water again, pity about the fish tally.

Weather permitting, I'll probably head down to Mordialloc on Saturday morning.
