Doesn't compare to the quality of shots posted. Amazing. A couple rotating as my desktop wallpaper :D

A couple of mobile images of the cell passing to my North thru Lilydale and onto Monbulk @ 5:30pm. Taken from Beaconsfield (O'Neil Road).

First real attempt at shooting lightning. Man, it's not easy!

Need to mark exactly where the infinity mark is for next time - Rikki, is yours slightly across from the sideways 8?

Anyway, great work as usual mate! Here's the best I could come up with...

Very nice Rikki!

Meso, still good job for first time. Hardest part is lining them up when you don't have a lit guide to look at in the view finder like on your pics unless there's constant lightning and then there's the exposure which can change all the time depending on how bright/close the lightning is and if there's rain involved etc.

Wouldn't be surprised if those cells down south produce a bit of lightning soon.

Edit: Seem to be weakening off already

quote:"schitzengiggles"Cobram - Yarrawonga. Grand. A better light show than 31/12/09-1/1/10.
Still cracking away.

Wow...it must be a cracker to beat those storms. That was a five hour light and sound show of the finest kind.

Absolutely beautiful night out there.

Fantastic coverage everyone! Congratulations to all.

I was under those hail shafts at AV's place this evening and it was pretty impressive stuff. 1-2cm stones from the microburst towards Seville (which dropped 30mm in 10 minutes!!!)

What are you expecting another Melbourne Supercell from March 6th right over the top of your house? lol

Nice observations though, even though there was Storms very close to the Berwick area.

Mate, if you really wanna see some action, you need to get out of the urban jungle. Melbourne is a tiny blip on the map of the whole state. The majority of the time conditions are going to be better up this way for storms to really get going. Melbourne is on the coast, hardly prime storm development country.

It seems the post deletion fairies are working at full steam tonight. Please knock it off, I'm just saying what needs to be said.

I'll try once more. Get off the couch. Don't sit there and sook because you didn't get any storms. There were storms in atleast 40% of Victoria today. All you needed do was drive an hour, or take up an offer of a ride, which I regularly do.

The stormshield/omg it died over melbourne/where's the lightning rubbish is very, very tiresome.

Right so it may be 2am and there could be a few over refreshed people on here spouting nonsense but there are always a pair of eyes on here at all times. This is a warning for those thinking they can push the buttons - you can't. Knock off the nonsense drivel or you will be warned, then banned. As simple as that. There is far too much weather and great things going on and I am not going to have this thread clogged up with whinging in the 3rd person!

Now I am going to bed...

If I wake to more of this tomorrow morning there will be bannings :)

I am going for a chase today....

Thoughts on the area of interest?? I think NE and N of Melbourne, particularly with the convegence developing later in the day.

AccAs still floating around the sky at the moment with a light NE wind. Should be another very good day.

It's actually still sparking to the distant NE.

Be VERY mindful of water over roads. Wear trousers and long sleeves. The mosquitos up there actually hurt.

Stay North of the Hume and you'll be fine.

I'd be heading for NW Vic personally. Anywhere between Aarat, Kerang and Echuca looks good for the early part of the day. NE of Healsville looks good for late afternoon. Will probably all change come the 12 and 18z runs tho. Good luck, Karl.
