Seems to be some signs of showers developing over the region ahead of the clumpy thundery rain. Had some big fat drops here before bashing up against the window. Can see the decaying cu over the hills to the east that would be producing the light rain for you DJ.

Can clearly see the congesting weather over the CBD and it looks encouraging. Not yet on radar so will be interesting to see if it makes it all the way.

Can someone who has more knowledge look at the dopplar for yarrawonga....Time signature before 8:30pm.... am I right in thinking the Cell South of deni has a decent rotating Meso?? And possibly the one near Numurkah as well....

Had storms here for the last 30 mins, very heavy bursts of rain, around 5mm I'd say. :D

Rhino. :) :)

Yeah there are some very heavy electirfied cores but not huge cores so the lightning is pretty localised but fun none the less.

Rikki I need a few more scans to confirm the VIC cell, though the NSW cell looks very interesting but I think just straight line winds with them.

Started to rain here, may have heard a rumble but not too sure if it was thunder.

Luck of the draw Dez, no shield or rainshadow.

Nice stuff Typhoon. The rain and thunder is most active on the back edge of this stuff.

15-20mm is a common fall out there currently. Could cause a few more increases in inflows up around the C ranges.

Looks pretty ordinary for Melb in terms of lightning, all the fun is once again to be had at the usual suspects of Castlemaine and Bendigo.

But then again, surprises have occured before, usually when it looks like it's turning into a crap heap :)

Not over yet. Don't write it off. There is a lot of interest in the band coming across from the west near Meredith which is moving more E which will herald a WNW change.

No thunder/lightning at all here, just moderate intensity rain.

EDIT: Until now, loud boom of thunder. :)

That stuff near Meredith will slide to the south, and the Macedon complex will, well ofcourse pass well to the north. Not one bit impressed. Once again the Maryborough-Castlemaine-Beaufort-Bendigo storm breeding ground of the universe gets the gold.

Huge amount of action down in Bass Strait :x

2 Seconds of drizzle here, some nice cloud above us right now, but thats about all. Can't see any action to the W or NW from here, might be a quieter night than I thought..

Rikki, i think your right - even to my untrained eye, the cell up in the north east has a juicy hook on it - that means rotation, right???

Having a look at the dopplar scans it appears to have serious winds involved.

As for Melbourne, we do not need the rain. It is all good to see the inland getting another 10-20mm of rain tonight. Tomorrow will be our turn.

Still not writing it off just yet.

I am 20km north of Numurkah and it is very quiet with very little wind. We got a little bit of rain and thats it.

Now gone very still outside. Got excited for a second when I thought I saw a flash to the NW - it was just a 737's strobes reflecting thru the lower cloud - looked cool though when it switched to the red strobes :D
