Storms along the surf coast not being affected by the ranges and are exceptionally lightning active. If Melbourne is going to see a storm it'll be between 11pm and 3am. Going to be a noisy and potentially damaging night for some around the state for sure.

How does the Doppler show towards and away wind speed like this? The blue and red.
It’s very confusing when it looks to be coming towards the radar.

Those returns are under storms and also quite a distance from the radar so are not a true reflection of surface conditions in this case.

Wow that was wild!!! Now that I live on a hill overlooking B.Marsh, I have a birds eye view from the Sw right around to the NE, I was super excited for a storm tonight. Sounded great on the metal roof too

Just on 8mm now from this storm down here so far. Very heavy rain at times, with thunder and lightning

Thought this one had slipped south then bang

About ten minutes of torrential rain. 10mm in the gauge. If only that storm was 50km wind

Multiple flash bangs and now fog.

Peak rainfall rate of 280mm/hr.

Bit hit miss. 0.2mm city near 20mm bayside.

EDIT> make that 12mm. Caught a stray back edge.

Windy and cool up here, but not no more in the gauge. Showers today, but mainly coastal. Where it hasn’t rained wouldn’t be surprised to see some dust

Probably just cold enough for the odd flurry on the alps. Thinking a few more mms here, though will be very hot and miss.

Patchy falls,as expected. Crazy gradients with nearly 100mm at Mt Hotham, while near zilch just down the road. Around here, best falls near Belgrave where there was about 15mm, while more like 5mm near Mt Dandenong.

5mm here, not great but still something like 10% of my ytd in one go so cant be too unhappy.
Trentham did a lot better with 18mm.

We finally got some rain. Thought it was going to miss to our south but we got a good downpour. That was so needed here. Hope we can get some more. Got 8mm.

Had 2 storms overnight, the first at 1030 which was very lightning active and squally but not a huge amount of rain. Second storm hit an hour later and the heavens opened, all up I got 15mm.

Sure was a wild evening. Very strong wind here, along with some decent lightning and thunder. Only managed 4mm though, but anything is welcome right now.

Wild storm early in the morning very happy with 8 mm which is the largest 24 hour total

No issues with my new house here in last nights wild storm, no rattling doors, windows, eaves and draughts like our previous new build home.
