The smoke here now is from the fire at the prom. It has a distinct smell that I know from fire fighting is banksia and ti tree. Not eucy.
Pretty unusual, very thick.

Very spectacular lightning tonight from the cell that passed to the north of me!! Lots of anvil crawlers!

Big storm just moved through here. Gusty wind, lots of thunder/lightning, and heavy rain. Dumped 5mm in quick time, bringing the total for the day to 17mm. A lot more than the models were predicting, which makes a change.

Last of the storms about to crunch the eastern suburbs. Looking out towards cloud to cloud strikes from ringwood. I was not expecting at 9:30 pm, but this one along with the others looks to active and strong. A multicell?

We're separated from Antarctica by a big ocean and a lot closer to the equator, so cold air is always going to be moderated to some extent, but if cold air begins spilling like it has been in the northern hemisphere, Melbourne could be hit with record cold temps and snow in the future.

Anyway, thick cloud is building, but we're right on the edge. Anything that does develop will probably dump out east around Healesville and beyond. Hope we sneak in something more tho

Ripper lightning show here. Cloud to cloud crawlers, odd cloud to ground and sheets bouncing of the cloud deck. Heavy rain for about 10 minutes. Now up to nearly 8mm. Next bit inbound shortly. Almost doubled by monthly total today

This rain is filling in gaps missed by earlier storms so most are getting a bit of a drink in central areas now. Water tank is back to full, after I emptied it yesterday on the back of EC (and my forecasting skills ).

Looks to have seperated as hit melbourne in to 2 supercells? Or at least twin multicells. These are good. 8/10 and bravo to crack the draught with these rains...

Those cells over the Dandenongs are very lightning active. I can see them from here and can barely count to three in between them. Most are less than a second apart

Beautiful display of CC lightning here in Camberwell, was topped off with about five minutes of driving rain. For about 20 minutes before that there were flashes of sheet lightning every two or three seconds from the north and northwest. Probably the most lightning active storm the inner east has seen in a long time.

A very nice break in what has been a painfully boring month.

Just shy of 11mm here Would have like 20mm, but 11mm gives a break from watering for a few days and gives the bush a break. Should see some drizzle or showers overnight so maybe a couple of mms more.

Locally, around 10-15mm across most the Dandenongs. Pretty consistent with a bit more around Kalorama and again around Ferntree Gully,

Well picked by the models which had early rain east, and late rain central. EC in particular was pretty consistent for the last few days.

Hoping now for a bit of follow-up late Sunday. Next week also a bit promising with moisture slowly getting dragged down from the extraordinary monsoon low that doesn’t look like budging for ten or more days

Still mostly missed here up to 5mm - storms went north along the Ferny creek ridge line, they seem to like that spot

Still better than nothing and a good light show for sure.
