Quick 9mm here from that band, and 14mm for the last day and a bit. Good top up :D Very wierd system, more like the upper troughs you get around Sydney. Our MTD is about 85mm, so still nearly 20mm below our average here. Would like to sneak it, but probably going to run out of days in the month. Not often the city doubles its average and we don’t get ours.

Was down at Walkerville where it was dry, but driving back up hit heavy rain around Phillip Island then around Berwick. In between were nearly dry. Torrential around Belgrave South.

That heat back in WA is extraordinary. Hot enough for 50C at sea level for multiple days. Pretty good chance we will see the hottest temperature recorded in any December in the next week :(

Yeah nice 15mm today.

Yeah looking at multi days in the mid 40s i NW Vic going to be VERY HOT

Coastal VIc will get weak cool changes and SBs, but inland will bake for days and over a week of heat no cool changes in the long range forecsat hot till after new year.

Summer is here

Multi 45c in Mildura quite possible

Possibly in the northwest. EC has shown up to 46C at Mildura. The 850hPa temperatures will be in the 33 to 34C range over WA and possible SA for a number of days. Those numbers record hot for December :( Hopefully they don’t dive towards a major urban centre.

Was worth waiting for, the 0.2mm recorded in my last post @ 6:20PM turned into a good soaking of 14mm.

9mm here. We just missed the heavier totals only a few kilometres to our east, but it’s still nice to have some follow-up to last week’s event. Takes us up to 90mm for the month. Maybe a bit of drizzle or a light shower or two to follow, but that might be it for the rest of the month? Guess we’ll see - it’s certainly looking like a spell of hot and dry weather coming up.

16mm in the end. Nice top up, ahead of a warm week.

Pretty amazing how the EC model picked this. Waking up yesterday everything said zilch, but the models knew better.

Now we switch into summer, with seven days of warmth in the south and furnace like conditions inland. Could well see five days at Mildura above 40C, with a couple of days likely to approach 45C. A week where it definitely better to be near the coast :?

7.5C overnight and still only 7.8C here now.
Really strong wind here. When its from the south, like the last few days, it funnels directly up the old volcanic crater that is Mt Macedon. We really cop it when it's from due south.

Another amazing result here during the past 24 hours. We got absolutely smashed by that rain late yesterday, about 25mm in total. A fantastic follow-up to last weeks event. :D

Now attention turns to the upcoming heat. Cowes beach here I come! ;)

Yuck, hopefully that scales back.

Scored about 15mm yesterday, am surprised. Good little drink before the warmth coming up. Haven't seen it this green in December for a while.

EC been toying with a couple of days above 45C. Access threw up a 48C at one point which would be a new December record for Victoria. Fortunately look like weak easterly troughs so not much wind or northerly fetch.

Mandora back on WA scored 47C today so airmass is starting to cook. Probably time for a new thread.

Garden here looks great atm with spring like conditions the last two months and about 320mm of rain. Quite the turnaround from how things looked after the lean September and October.
