Big rumble here from that cell. Going to our north, so be a miss here. 0.6mm in the gauge so far.

Not surprised. Real time tracker is showing quite a few CG's on that cell.

Wow! Best coldies ever just passing us in Elwood right now. North Rd Brighton hit by flash flooding in intense rainfall with mega small hail turning the ground white (7:45pm tonight). Serious rain and hail, and lightning/thunder. Big adrenaline rush. We missed the action in Mansfield yesterday so good to get a taste this evening.

One of the best cold-cored thunderstorms in years in my opinion! Plenty of blue bolts (including CG's) and some ripper thunder. Missed the rain from it here in Cheltenham but that radar scan looked intense, no wonder things got a little hairy in Brighton! :D

Sounds like a good show down there :) huge vertical temp differences over Metro Melbourne at the moment. That cell got angry very quickly once it passed over warmer water off St Kilda to Brighton

Agree Jake. One of the best I've been under, in any season. Driving west toward the bay, it was wonderful watching it intensify over the warmer bay as JS mentioned. The clear air behind with sun setting made it more spectacular. Temp dropped to 7c during the hail but a localised effect no doubt.

Another smaller cell has just popped up over us again now with heavy rain. Lovely looking CU in the dusk light.

Edit: 14mm the last hour

Multiple booms here from the complex. We’ve been just on the edge with 1.4mm, with the serious stuff typically 2-10km to the north :( Multiple short spells of hail and graupel. Would imagine Mt Dandenong will be covered in hail about now looking at the radar.

Private weather station just below Mt Dandenong is currently showing 4C so could well be the odd wet flurry on the backend of the storm.

Yes that was scary...power was knocked out here with enormous thunder then weird sound i found vaguelt familiar ....the hail approaching! Luckily it wasnt too damaging as all seedlings were out and cover off tomatoes etc....proves my theory right ...when u dont cover or take any plants in u not only get thunder but hail!! Lol

Nice one James..... finally a direct hit :)

It seems like that water off St Kilda is a breeding ground with the next one popping up heading NE, with a little wind convergence. With the current uppers, if a cell takes off further out into the bay, it will get time to rotate and probably spawn a water spout.

Had a birds eye view of that storm out east, saw two massive bolts on my walk with the dog.

Direct hit for the rain and small hail, plenty of flash bangs and another shower this morning as the alarm went off. 25mm at home, very nice.
