Cold, wet and windy one up here today. 4mm of rain, with a nice chunky band of showers inbound. Event now on ~20mm, and should be 25mm soon.

Like the look of the progs the next 72 hours. Should see a further 50mm here, perhaps a bit more. Looks like bumper snowfalls in the alps.

I not seeing low level snow though :( Thinking perhaps dipping to 700-800m but struggle to see it getting down to here at 560m.

BTW going to be some very high tides on the weekend (highest of the year) and there is now large 25cm+ sea level anomalies around Vic due to the strong and protracted westerly flow (which piles water up on the coast to the left of the wind). Global sea levels are also record high (because of the trend). Strikes me that we could see some unusually high water levels Bayside on Saturday and Sunday. The set-up reminds me a bit of June 2014 when this happened (http://www.starweekly.com.au/news/18050 ... a-gallery/ ).

Wind picking up nicely, again, and some decent rain, again :)

Was down in Frankston last night, very blustery with that squall line that came through.

Real winter at last.

Drove home from Tullamarine through some heavy rain and wind squalls in that band on the ring road. Even the trucks slowed down! Yet when the band got here - virtually nothing.

Dipped to 2.6C here overnight with 6mm of rain in the gauge. Slowly ticking up. Total a little over 20mm now.

Today looks like mostly focusing on the coast and ranges. Going to be some big falls by the end of this in the usual spots. Showers become more widespread tomorrow with the SW'ly kicking in.

Great boost for the ski resorts. They look to generally have 30-60cm on the ground now which is pretty good for mid June. Snow levels near or a little below 1000m.

Substantial tidal surge happening in coastal parts. The Bay is currently running 30-40cm above average and the next couple of high tides are among the highest in the year. Could be some very expensive houses in Brighton, Altona etc having water lapping at their fences :? Thinking this has the potential to set record high water levels.

Cold, crisp, and sunny morning here and 5c currently. Got down to 4c overnight. 22mm so far this week, and with all the rain in May, the ground is now pretty muddy in places, but makes a nice change to the mini-drought.

Temperatures are brutal up here with a T of 4C and Dp of 3C and a gusty nwly wind. Sitting here waiting for the showers to slowly penetrate inland.

Btw Wilsons Promontory just missed its June daily rainfall record with 63.4mm (record is 64mm). Shame to have got so close, but not quite.. nasty winds down there gust well over 100km/hr.

Strange sort of day here, very calm as Macedonian said. there looks to be a strong
southerly airstream pushing up, but the rain is staying on the coast.

I suppose the upper level low is interfering and stopping showers moving inland,
but for us here, the low usually helps pull the rain inland.
Oh well wait and see what happens.

Still calm. We even had the sun out a few times. Temp is still very low, only 2.9C here now.
Lots of car traffic out on the road. Soon to be dissappointed snow tourists :D

Today was always going to be dry for most of the State.

That'll change tomorrow, especially for Melbourne and along the ranges as moisture gets advected in.

Sky has been blue here for an hour and a half. You NEVER see blue sky in June at Mt Macedon but today it is.
Still frigid though. 2.7C now

Still waiting for something substantial... The bands have been okay, but really would like a 25mm to 30mm drop.

Those showers along the coast are like a turning spring, they appear as if they're moving up, but don't seem to actually get anywhere lol
