Wind is really picking up here now too. The rain has eased off a bit but the radar suggests quite a bit more on its way. We're now sitting on 54mm for the event after a further 14mm today.

Almost 8mm in FC for today. Puts us just shy of 55mm for the event. Ticking along nicely.

EC has it continuing to nearly mid night so should scrape up to nearly 60mm, perhaps a little over.

In the city it is feral. Wild winds and sideways rain.

59mm here and I've got to head out for several hours, so hope all the trees are still standing when I get home.

When is Gipps meant to be copping it?

Thought they would be well on their way by this afternoon.

Seems like it.. I haven't even hit 25mm for the event so far. Really hope those in Gipps aren't going to miss out, but it looks like the system is pulling out to sea judging by the sat pic. Some locations in Gipps are yet to crack 100mm for the year so far, and we're almost halfway through :o

Very, very dry year on our hands so far. If things don't turn around soon, a repeat of 2007 almost seems possible.

Seems like it.
Clearing but still some showers lurk to the south. For my mind, it's a night for sitting inside on the couch in front of the TV and wood fire :D

Spitty stuff slowly adding up in FC. We must be close to 60mm now which is a pretty good outcome.

It should wrap back into Gippsland overnight, with progs holding pretty widespread 25-50mm for areas east of Sale. Guess we will see.

BTW in Tasmania Mt Wellington 226mm and Leslie Vale 223m are now the second and third highest daily total ever recorded in Tasmania (behind 258mm at Gray in 18 May 1986). Goes to show how extraordinary the event has been locally.

And... not to be outdone Perth's expecting 31C tomorrow. That will be a new late season heat record for them. Two weeks to winter and summer temperatures :? They are looking at a particularly dry start to the season over there as they have missed the cold fronts and westerlies like Vic (thankfully we got this big cut off).

really windy here at the moment, gusting in the mid 70's at the airport. 38mm so far for event, well above expectations with a the southerly on this side of the divide. Some great totals south of here with Snowfall, Peter, HB & Gordon.

The new low in the Tasman has dragged the existing low and main rainband east. Gippsland is going to cope a flogging tonight.
