Another day of strong dry winds and the landscape has been completely baked! The rain we had in December and even January helped keep a fair amount of green around, but that's absolutely not the case now. It'll be fascinating to see what March will deliver.

Lancefield: 8.4mm for the month
Riddells Creek down the road has only received 0.3mm!

Tasmania seems to have had some decent rain this month. Shame it’s mostly passed us by. Finished on 5.2mm for February. We really need some good rain, so hanging out to see if something emerges later next week.

Glistening on the dead grass luminated by the street light, is that moisture from cloud.
Radar check, slight white noted, then the sound pitter patter on roof and trickling in a down pipe,
I'd like more of it and a lot heavier to claim RAIN, but I do think it's actually raining..
Yippie... :rainfall: :raining: :umbrella:
Might be able to do a yard clean with out launching my top soil up my nose while holding a rake.

Steady light rain at home but the roads here at work are already drying. Still, any rain is better than none. Get out there and enjoy it.

With 1.6mm for the month at the closest BoM AWS (Viewbank) we were headed for the driest month on record (well, since 2000 anyway) - drier than 2009 with 3.6mm.

However, managed to scrape some light rain overnight - enough to wet the parched dead grass. Viewbank showing 3.4mm and the local AWS 2.2mm so we escape the record at the last gasp.

Seems the lack of baking heat (only one hot day over 35) and the rain in late January has prevented it from being worse.

Overnight's rain is counted to March's total isn't it? So you still ended up with less than 2mm for Feb unfortunately.

I thought it was counted up to 9am even at the end of the month, but I could be wrong :) Either way it's still very dry!

Some light drizzle overnight to celebrate! 0.9mm. The wind was a little too southerly so the best of it went through the Scoresby area.

Well, 10mm for us for February - a veritable deluge by comparison to many, but still very dry!

We'll measure exactly 1mm to 9am today (drizzle has stopped for the moment), so at least March is off to a vaguely damp start. (And yes, your record stands occluded; rain since 9am yesterday counts towards March.)

Thanks stevco123 and Gordon for the correction :)

It's a dubious record to be holding though - the neighbour's grass which is usually lush and well kept is 100% brown :(

Some drizzle this morning gave 0.2mm. Looks like quite a cool night coming up - currently 15c. Unfortunately the big dry continues - not seeing anything for another week. I have almost forgotten what a proper fall of rain looks like! Thankfully our tank levels are not too low, given they were full after January’s rain. We rely entirely on tank water here. But I imagine quite a few people out this way will be starting to buy water.

Tipped out a little over 2mm yesterday,
Dead lawn has green tinge.
